About me

Hello and thank you for taking the time to consider me as your therapist!

My name is Emma and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in supporting military members and their families, particularly military spouses. I graduated in 2014 from the University of Southern California, and over the years, I have expanded my expertise to address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, panic, distress, and existential concerns. Whether you're a military spouse dealing with the unique challenges of military life, or simply someone seeking guidance and support on your journey towards self-discovery and healing, I'm here to help.

My intention as your therapist is to clear a path for you to what you want to feel and achieve. I do this by offering you a non-judgmental space to explore and express your experiences and emotions. Together, we identify what feeling better might look like for you personally and then pursue that with perspectives and skill-sets.

If you have not had a therapist before, you might question whether you actually need “therapy,” and to that I would respond that, at its simplest, therapy is sharing your distress with a caring person who believes in your potential to feel better. If you are wondering whether or not I would be a good fit for you, the best way would be to try and see. Many people try different therapists to find the best fit, much like you would try different medications until one felt like it was helping.

My specific therapeutic approach is client-centered with an existential-humanistic perspective. I employ an integrative strategy for choosing therapeutic techniques to use based on individuals’ distinct needs and goals. These techniques are drawn from the following therapies: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, and Solutions Focused.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Emma Long. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Meeting with Emma was my first time in therapy in years. Like many, I had put it off and put it off until my mental health was suffering so much that I had to do something. When I was matched with her, I wasn't sure what to expect but she took the time to get to know what it was I was seeking from therapy. She is compassionate and not afraid to tackle the tough stuff. For the first few months, I knew she was helping me but when people ask me about why my weekly therapy is so important, I tell them this: I had a traumatic event happen to me at work. I thought I was dealing with it okay but I sent her a message to tell wanted to tell Emma what had happened. She immediately set up an emergency session to talk me through it and guide me through processing techniques. I can't thank her enough for that and for helping me through some hectic times as I've made many life transitions in a short time.
