Emma Martin
About me
Hello and welcome,
I am a fully qualified person-centred Therapist and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, with over three 4 years’ experience in the UK. Prior to training as a Therapist, I worked within the Mental Health Sector with Adults, Young Adults, and families. More recently I have been working with both male and female survivors of rape, sexual abuse, sexual violence, and domestic abuse. I have a wide knowledge of how people can feel when experiencing traumatic events in life and together with my experience, I have helped many people with complex needs in different settings from all walks of life.
I understand life can be challenging at times and we may face stressful and difficult experiences in our lives such as illness, bereavement, family problems and relationship issues. When experiencing these difficult times, it can be helpful to talk to an experienced, professional therapist and make a real difference on how we feel.
Reaching out for help can be daunting and difficult and so, it is important to find the right compassionate, knowledgeable, and non-judgemental person for you so you can be listened to and understood. I felt the person-centred approach was the best approach for me, as I believe that it is the relationship between counsellor and client that makes all the difference. I have found it a privilege to be able to accompany a client on their journey to living a happier life.
I am bound by the Ethical Framework for counselling professions and keep up to date with developments in the profession. My therapeutic experiences include working with addiction, bereavement, loss, bereavement through suicide, trauma and dealing with anxiety, relationship’s, depression, gender dysphoria, dementia, suicide, self-harm, dissociation disorder, bipolar and domestic abuse to name but a few.
I will accept you and your values without judgement, and I will remain by your side in a real and genuine way, helping you navigate whatever is going on for you.

Entirely professional yet relatable, she makes such a safe space to feel and work through any issues. After having a rough time with therapists or mental health professionals in the past I can safely say Emma has restored my faith in asking for help.
