My name is Eric Martin. I am a clinical social worker with a background in trauma focused therapy, addictions and overall mental health. I have been fully licensed for 3 years but have been in this field for over 10 years.
My counseling style is interactive and laid back. I believe in treating everyone with respect and I do not believe in judging any of the people I work with. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I strongly believe that the foundation of our life is rooted in our childhood. The foundation of a home is pivotal – when you think about, if the foundation of a home is cracked, flawed, improperly measured, then essentially the entire home may be compromised. So, the cracks and flaws in our childhood affect who we are today. Throughout the course of us meeting I would like to dive into your childhood just a little and see if there are any explanations for certain behaviors and or thoughts you are struggling with.
I also know that our own thoughts affect our behavior on a daily basis. I would assume that some thoughts have previously affected you in a good way, while some thoughts have affected you in a negative way. I am going to dive into your thought process with you, and figure how to possible influence your own cognitive practices with hopes of retraining you to think more positive, but ultimately, more realistic.
Essentially, I am going to try and connect some dots for you, create some goals, and challenge your thought process while providing feedback and encouragement.
