My name is Erica Patton Simpson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in brain-based treatments and trauma resolution in Kentucky, where I provide timely assistance to individuals and couples facing events that cause a disruption in healthy functioning. I am so glad you are here with me and I look forward to walking this journey with you.
I have known since I was very young that I had a desire to help others. I suffered trauma growing up and spent much of the last 25 years focusing on the casualty of the symptoms experienced as opposed to just the symptoms themselves, which may include anxiety, depression, mood disturbances, lack of focus, relational issues, and overall poor or below level functioning. I found by learning even more about the ways in which trauma affects you neurologically, mentally, emotionally and physically, it became even more important for me to give back the knowledge I had gained to help others.
I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is an innovative treatment in brain-based therapy used for trauma resolution and performance enhancement, which involves brain disregulation including anxiety-depression spectrum, attention deficits, behavior disorders, PTSD and emotional trauma disturbances.
Since launching my career more than 20 years ago, I have earned a reputation for possessing a proven ability to enter traumatic scenarios and defuse them quickly and discreetly.
My personal therapeutic approach is to return my clients to optimal functioning by quickly minimizing psychological stress, reducing emotional barriers, addressing unresolved trauma, identifying unhealthy influences, and ultimately helping to develop the skills needed to live your life without the stressors you currently face - all within the therapeutic process.
As an expert in trauma and human systems, I can work in short, intensive sessions to prevent and manage crises or in a less intensive treatment modality as you journey through your recovery to optimal health. As a result, together we can create lives filled with purpose and joy as highly functional individuals and couples.

I have only had 2 sessions and I feel that this has been the most rewarding of all of my experiences with any therapist. I value Better Help and Erica.

My counselor is truly amazing. I had no idea I could have this kind of authentic connection with a therapist but she has proven that to be inaccurate-Erica is truly one of the most compassionate and caring people I have ever known.

In the short time I have used Betterhelp Erica has been a guiding light in my journey to become a better person. I came initially to discuss some relationship matters & anger management as well as some more delicate personal matters And with Ericas support & encouragement has really enabled me to understand myself better, personal triggers that I was previously blissfully unaware of. I feel overall better equipped to handle my own anger & this has in turn enabled me to build a stronger more valuable relationship with my wife & family.

This app did an amazing job connecting me with my counselor! Erica has helped me see my situation from a new perspective and has given me valuable tools and techniques to manage my daily stresses. In my previous therapy experiences it has taken months for my counselor and I to connect and to feel understood. This is NOT the case with Erica. She has guided our conversations and asked all of the right questions to get to know me very quickly and efficiently so we can jump right in. I feel supported and safe being 100% honest with her. Our sessions are a ZERO JUDGMENT zone! Her style is a great balance of professionalism, positivity, spirituality, career coaching, compassion, and encouragement.

In the short 2 weeks that I've had Erica as my counselor, I feel like we are a good match. She has great insight in trauma, and she understands how my brain works when I experience anxiety/panic. I have a long way to go, but I am sure that with Erica as my counselor, my road will be less hard and with more insights along the way.

I have only been with Erica for a short while, but already I feel like she truly understands my issues. The things she says make a lot of sense to me and I get the impression she truly cares. When I started counseling on this site I swapped counsellors several times as I couldn't find a good fit. Erica checks in often and also replies to me very quickly. Her expertise in trauma are evident and the information she sends is really helpful to me.

I just started working with Ms. Erica, and I have to say that it feels like she was sent to me from a place where only good things happen.
She is incredibly kind, she's present (in a way that doesn't seem false or contrived), she's eager to be with me every day (I'm not kidding, I mean her response time is phenomenal) and she just seems like the sort of person that's doing this for the people she's helping, not for money or anything else. She feels so genuinely invested in me, that sometimes I wonder if this is a dream, that I'll wake up from soon.
Ms. Erica, I know we haven't been together long, but I can already feel the benefits of your care, and constant support, and because of that, I feel confident that there's hope for me...and that's something I've never felt before. Thank you...no really THANK YOU so much.
