About me

Hello and Welcome! I am a Licensed Psychologist in Colorado with 10+ years experience counseling individuals, couples, families and groups and board certified in Tele-mental health. For the last 8 years I have been the owner of a successful mental health practice that continues to grow in Colorado Springs, Colorado. My practice focuses on a variety of concerns that many people encounter in their lives, including but not limited to anxiety and stress, grief and loss, chronic pain/illness, relationship distress including divorce and separation, family dysfunction, and mild to moderate mental health diagnoses.

As counselors we can all talk about the modalities and techniques we will use to help you as the client. However, research has consistently suggested that the relationship between the client and counselor is one of the most important factors in positive counseling experience and the progress we make. Therefore, building rapport with my clients is the first and primary on going focus of my practice. It is important that whomever you choose to work with understands your concerns, goals, and life direction as you see it. I take the time to understand who you are, where you come from, and where you are going in order to effectively provide treatment that best suits your needs in individual, couples, family, or group counseling. Collaboratively, we will identify the areas of your life that concern you and strive to develop a treatment plan that addresses reachable and measurable short term and long term goals.

Ok, now we can talk about modalities and treatment techniques! From a foundation of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Systemic Family Therapy I provide direct but sensitive counseling services to those struggling with a variety of concerns. The two behavioral approaches address how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all interact. Through the use of various tools and activities, such as in session education, worksheets, homework assignments, and more these approaches strive to help clients identify dysfunctional thinking patterns in order to help them achieve more control over their emotions and behaviors. Similarly, the systemic approach evaluates a client's family of origin and other significant systems they are members of and review the beliefs and values that have been passed along. These evidenced based practices work well together for a variety of concerns that many people encounter in their lives.

Sadly, the stigma around counseling has lessened over the years. However, I understand that there may still be a sense of discomfort when deciding to begin the process. Maybe you are unsure of how counseling works, maybe your past experiences have been negative. I am here to make the process more comfortable, transparent, and productive! I would be honored to walk with you on this journey to becoming the person you want to be and I look forward to the work we will do together!
