About me

I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in South Carolina with 12 years of experience working as a therapist and over 20 years working a therapeutic support staff. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, gender identity, LGBTQ issues, societal concerns and ADHD. I also helped people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with dignity, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, existential, behavioral and client centered modalities. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Erika Johnston. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I’ve now had three sessions with Erika. She is warm and kind, and I pretty immediately felt comfortable speaking with. She listens intently and is thoughtful in her feedback, and she is also open with her personal experiences that are relevant, which makes me feel heard and supported. She is helping me find perspective in a very difficult life shift while also validating my complex feelings around it. I am looking forward to continuing to work with her and I highly recommend her services.

Erika is kind, understanding, and a wonderful listener. The only reason I will be switching therapists is because I had to move out of state. I will miss our sessions together. Anyone would be lucky to have Erika in their corner. Thank you, Erika! For everything!
