About Me

Hi... my name is Erin Mack. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both New York and Connecticut. I am a native New Yorker and graduated from Hofstra University with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Political Science and then graduated from Fordham University with my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work. I have nearly 10 years of professional experience helping a variety of people talk about, sort through, and process information pertaining to their life that they feel they need some support with. I have worked with people from all different walks of life including those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use and dependence, legal issues, relationship issues, family conflict, and severe and persistent mental health disorders.

I truly believe that therapy is a tool that can help people feel better and live their best lives. Everyone deals with difficult trials and tribulations throughout their lifetime and regardless of what you're going through, it's real, it's your experience, and you deserve to feel heard and supported. For some, therapy may be a one time "thing" to help get through a difficult phase of life, for others therapy may be something one participates in at various times throughout their life, and there are some who choose to participate on a more permanent basis. Therapy should be individualized based on YOUR needs.

In order to really best provide therapy to someone, I believe it is key to take a holistic approach to really understand the person I am working with. I have experience and expertise using various treatment modalities including: CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy, TF-CBT (trauma focused-cognitive behavior therapy), motivational interviewing, REBT (rational emotive behavior therapy), Person Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Conflict Resolution, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.

As a therapist, I believe it is my responsibility to my clients to be 5 things:
1.) Present - I'm here, I'm listening, and I'm with you on this journey.
2.) Empathetic - I'm able to see your point of view and understand your feelings and be there with you as you process your thoughts and feelings.
3.) Knowledgeable - I am always continuing my education and utilizing my education, personal and professional experiences to be a better therapist.
4.) Honest - Sometimes opinions in therapy aren't needed and sometimes they are - when asked directly or when indicated, I will always be honest with you.
5.) Non-Judgmental - Isn't that why speaking to your family or friends is less effective at times?! No judgments here, just a safe space to talk, process, and/or vent.

I hope to hear from you and would be honored to work with you as you continue your journey.

Erin is a great listener, and provides very personalized counseling. She always seems to remember what I have previously shared with her, and follows up on topics/challenges that we have discussed in the past. She is gracious, kind, understanding and curious. Highly recommend.

Erin is very interactive. She always responds within 48 hours, usually less.
