About Me

Hi, I am Erin McDaid. I have been working for over five years as a clinical therapist with adults, older adults, and older adolescents. I use a goal-oriented therapy style, focusing on areas of strength or need that are determined by the client. My style is no-nonsense and direct. I use a wide variety of skills and techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and motivational interviewing. I often assign homework for clients to complete between therapy sessions (however, I try not to make it complex or overwhelming). I do not believe in stereotyping, labeling, or stigmatizing people. I welcome working with people of all faiths, genders, sexual orientations, political affiliations, and ethnicities.

At an initial interview clients should expect to discuss with me their background (how they grew up, what they have done since high school, any relationship status), their current symptoms, any drug or alcohol use or history, any legal history, and their hopes for what they will get from therapy. During this discussion I will work to clarify any questions that occur to me and to reassure the client that both the client and I are understanding the client’s needs and history. We will also discuss what the specific issues are that brought you to therapy. Be ready to be open and forthcoming. Clients may leave their initial session with a simple homework assignment that will begin to move them forward with their treatment.

Erin is amazing, and I would highly recommend her for therapy. She is very kind, empathetic, thoughtful, and honest. It is very easy to open up to her and talk to her. Erin is a great counselor who not only understands me and is able to articulate back to me what I have expressed, but she also does a great job at addressing the needs particular clients have. She’s a real human who is relatable which makes it easier to take her advice than someone who doesn’t have experience with what you’ve gone through and is only textually educated about certain areas. Thankful for her.

Erin is amazing. For me she cut right through the bullshit and was honest with me. She made me look at things the way they are, not how I want them to be. If you want an experienced relasionship counselor who will tell it like it is, look no further.

Erin is a breath of fresh air and a safe haven. I appreciate her ability to listen without judgement, ask questions and give me options on how I may better take care of myself and the issues I am tackling.

Our meetings have been beneficial and I always leave feeling a little lighter. Her suggestions are well thought out and feel personal to my situation.

Erin has been a wonderful counselor. She is an amazing listener and is so supportive. As a 26 year old woman, I had never felt like a counselor was in touch with what young women are experiencing. Erin has been wonderful. I am adapting to the new style of counseling and she has made my transition very smooth. So far her advice has been sound and her response time excellent.
