Erin Wilson

About Me

Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the services I offer. My name is Erin Wilson and I have been working in the mental health field for 9 years. My passion for this field is rooted in personal experience. As a person who participates in therapy, I believe sharing some of the same experiences as those I work with provides a genuine authenticity in my ability to be present for the people I am honored to help. I believe therapy can be empowering, fun and healing at the same time.

I started my career in the counseling field as an intern at hospice and then worked as a therapist in helping families heal after the death of a loved one. Life then presented the opportunity for me to work in the field of substance abuse at a methadone clinic and a community mental health facility providing intensive outpatient treatment. While working with families seeking reunification, I began to also teach parenting skills. I was then lead into the role of a family therapist working with children, teens and families. My previous experience before coming to BetterHelp was as a supervisor helping other new therapists begin their journey of service and development. Looking back, I must say I am so grateful and honored to have grown from such a variety of experiences with so many amazing people. Now I am embracing this new adventure of providing telemed services to meet the needs of our changing times.

In session what you can expect from me? I will honor you and your uniqueness. I will be dedicated to assisting you in discovering inner strengths and finding ways to bring forth your strengths in practical ways so you can succeed in meeting your goals in life. I see my role as someone who is there to listen non-judgmentally and provide unconditional acceptance. When asked, I can share my perspective in a way that is helpful to your unique needs. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable exploring yourself. Some people benefit from learning specific techniques and/or homework assignments between sessions and I can provide those. Others may prefer not to have homework and that is okay. By working together, I believe we can create a therapeutic relationship that works best for you. I will inquire for feedback about what the session was like for you and be open to making any changes I may need to make sure therapy is as helpful as possible.

In sessions what I do I expect of you? For therapy to be effective, I believe honesty and an openness to perceiving yourself and life in new ways is essential. Through the years I have seen people who make different choices in how they live life outside of the session as the most successful.

In my view, it is the power of the relationship we build together that makes a way for discovery, learning, healing and positive change to happen. My journey in the therapy field has provided many miraculous experiences being a part of positive change in the lives of others. I hope to have the opportunity to be a part of this process with you!

It’s taken a couple of tries to find a therapist to connect to. I’m so happy I found Erin.

After one session with Erin, I felt comfortable with her. Right from the get go she makes you feel comfortable and listens. She then builds from what you share and challenges you - which is what I need - to get started to better times. Thank you Erin.

I highly recommend Erin! She's very responsive, guiding me in creating goals, and giving me several tools to use in my daily life when things are tough. I always feel like she listens to me and remembers the things that are important to me. I was nervous at first about trying therapy, but now that I've worked with Erin, I would definitely recommend therapy to others. It has made a big difference in my life.
