About me

Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of anxiety, depression or other psychological issues?
If you are ready to take charge of your mental health, you've come to the right place.

My name is FitzGerald Ajoku, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in New York City and Chicagoland. I have worked with clients expressing a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family problems, behavioral challenges, abandonment/rejection, grief, past trauma, and suicidal/homicidal ideations. I have done psychiatric facility, correctional setting, hospital, youth program and veteran work.

My counseling style consists of meeting the client where they are in order to foster an environment of acceptance. When working with people, a nonjudgemental stance is always utilized. It is my hope to create a safe, authentic, and inviting experience. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution- focused therapy. Together, we will work to identify your treatment goals and I will patiently support you along your entire journey.

I have a history of engagement and service provision to the isolated, misunderstood, stereotyped and or marginalized with cultural sensitivity. From the most challenging situations to those who just want to get back to being their better selves or reach their full potential.

You can do this! Change is possible and if you are ready to take that step, I am here to help you move with the spirit of empowerment. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and cultivate meaningful solutions.

I look forward to working with you!

The sessions are curtailed to your experiences and needs in a sensitive and intentional way. I definitely recommend him as he is detail oriented and will really help you deconstruct beliefs while allowing you to build new, conducive opinions to navigate life. 10/10 recommend!

Fitz has been awesome. He actually reached out to me and saw what I was going through and quickly could identify when good times to transition on to the next topics and struggles were. I feel like I can not only open up to him with what I’m battling, but also just talk to him as a friend about my daily life and what I have planned for the afternoon. I am confident that my voice is being heard, and I really appreciate the fact that he cues in on specific things that I say during our sessions to really highlight them and build on some really transformative ideas that I would typically miss on my own.
