About me

I graduated with my Masters in Social Work in July of 2016 from Walla Walla University based out of Missoula Montana. I have over six years of increasingly responsible experience working in the mental health field in a verity of positions. I'm currently an outpatient therapist at my own private practice working with adults with severe and disabling mental illness and clients that are children and adolescents. I received my licensed clinical social worker, (or LCSW), from the State of Montana November 1st, 2019. I also am a certified mediator, (or CM), which I received while completing my bachelors in sociology at the University of Houston - Clear Lake.

My therapeutic style is client-centered, honest, and empathetic to my client's concerns. Trust is the major factor that enables clients to talk about what is at the heart of their problems, and we spend the time necessary to develop that trust. I view the therapeutic relationship as collaboration with my client on a unique journey towards self-enhancement, wellness, and goal attainment. I want to help empower you to overcome your personal obstacles with a compassionate and respectful approach in a safe place where you can share and build self-awareness as we work together to change.

Main areas of expertise would include depression, anxiety/panic attacks, mood dysregulation including Bipolar and personality disorders, anger and stress management, substance abuse issues/addiction, self esteem, communication skill building and conflict resolution, and interpersonal relationship skill building.

Maya Angelou said, "History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again." Starting a therapeutic journey takes courage, but gaining insight is the key to change. If this sounds like the journey you are looking for, then I look forward to working with you.

I honestly cant say enough great things about Garrett. This is my first time ever receiving counseling and thanks to Garrett, I cant really imagine my life without it any more. He listens, he understands, he gives advice in a way that makes you feel like he has always cared for you. With all the hardships I dealt with this year he has been a refreshing light in my life.

Not enough time to give a proper review, but he is a good listener and paraphrases well.
