Life is often difficult and challenging in the best of times. When you face anxiety, stress, depression, and feelings of inadequacy, the pain can be overwhelming. Life changes, relationship issues, family stress, and career challenges can activate deep feelings of confusion, failure, and unloveableness. If life has become too difficult to manage on your own, and you need assistance and support to sort things out, make necessary changes, and discover your innate talents and value, I can help. I have been working with people to confront and grow from the pain in their lives for 42 years. I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology – Berkeley and am a licensed psychologist in Texas and California.
During my career I have worked in community mental health, private practice, inpatient facilities, business corporations, and nursing homes. The settings change and the content of people’s problems vary, but the underlying conflicts that cause psychological and emotional pain do not. Everyone wants to be heard, their issues understood, and to feel valuable and loved.
I use a therapeutic approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic principles, and positive emotional support to create a safe space to explore and heal the childhood wounds that make you feel alone and misunderstood by friends, family, spouses, significant others, and the world. Together we will challenge negative self-talk, destructive behaviors, and repetitive patterns that end poorly, cause pain, and reinforce feelings of self-doubt and worthlessness. We will discover new and constructive ways for you to re-frame ingrained beliefs, change painful and self-negating thoughts, and free you from old dysfunctional decisions made long ago that are still impacting your daily life.
Therapy is a journey. Sometimes we need a tune-up and sometimes an overhaul. Either way, our work together will help you to discover new strengths and skills you never knew you had, develop constructive and healthy ways to face life’s challenges, and free you to move forward in life with freedom and joy.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Gary Jordan. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Gary is simply the best therapist I have ever had and could ask for.
I recently reconnected with Dr Jordan after a short hiatus and I'm very glad that I did. In fact, I frequently looked forward to sharing and discussing some important life event during that time, and commiserating when I remembered that I couldn't.
Committing - and recommitting - to yourself is a wonderful thing. It's even more enervating when you have a respected, qualified, compassionate, insightful, and brilliant therapist to share it with. Dr Jordan has not forgotten about me or our work together despite my absence, and we have continued right from where we left off. I was very fortunate to have been connected to him in the first place. I still feel fortunate to have Dr Jordan on my side helping me to do the work.
After 3 months of working with Gary I have made amazing progress. He does not push his agendas. He asks and teaches how to ask the right questions to get to where you need to go. I felt heard, understood and cared for. A professional and definitely the person you're looking for. Gary is the man!
Beautiful soul, patient, kind, helpful with concrete tasks but also willing to just listen and ask questions. Excellent.
Dr. Jordan is a patient listener and wise confidante. I would recommend his expertise to anyone willing to put in the work. He has a wide arsenal of tools and has a deep understanding of the human condition.
I am confident in Dr Jordan's expertise and feel grateful to be able to work with him. The communication with Dr. Jordan flows easily, he is an exceptional listener and I feel that he has the right strategy for helping me with the issue I'm consulting him for. He is very respectful and kind, exactly the therapist I was looking for.
I feel so unbelievably fortunate to have found Dr. Jordan. He's kind, patient, and wise. For anyone looking to go deep, Dr. Jordan can help facilitate that work in so many ways. He is someone who cares deeply, and has a wealth of knowledge to help take you wherever you are willing and able to go.
Dr. Jordan has changed my life and has helped me heal my inner child. I am learning so much from him.
By far the best therapist I have ever had. He listens and really is insightful. Anyone would be lucky to work with him.
He’s amazing, wise, knowledgeable and very approachable. He’s helped me overcome some major hurdles and i am forever grateful to him
Dr Jordan is a good therapist, supportive and responsive, he listens and has been helping me develop my self love and worth
I have been working with Gary twice a week for three months. I have found him consistently engaged, intelligent, reflective, understanding and empathetic. He has challenged me to go deeper, to probe my own preconceived ideas and notions of myself and my thought patterns and my place in the world. This was all done on my terms and I feel incredibly safe and supported when working with him. He is an expert in his field. He is incredibly kind and caring in his persona and consistently caring about my emotions. I would recommend him to anyone.
After leaving a difficult work environment during COVID lockdown, I felt the need to speak with a professional to help me understand my sensitivity, and work to strengthen my resilience and learn more about what activates my anxiety. I was matched with Gary, and was amazed at his open and understanding demeanour. Dr Jordan was able to listen without judgement, and guide me through various processes that allowed me to understand myself more and find peace with the things that once caused me to think unhelpful thoughts. With BetterHelp and Dr. Jordan, I was able to identify ways to adapt my thinking and engage a wiser and less hyper-emotional mind. I cannot thank Dr. Jordan enough and have recommended him to family members that are also going through a difficult time.
Dr Jordan is incredibly empathic and caring, he listens and engages with such sincerity that I feel very safe to share my thoughts and feelings with him during our sessions. He responds to me messages very timeously and with great insight and kindness. I can't recommend him enough.
