About me

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in New Mexico, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a former Clinical Professional Counselor in Nevada with more than13 years of experience working as a psychotherapist in Private Practice, Community Mental Health, and Adolescent and Adult Corrections. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship issues, parenting problems, LGBTQIA issues, career challenges, OCD and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse and addictions including Victims of Crime, Adolescent and Adult Community Drug Court Programs, and Youth Reporting Services.
My counseling style is warm, interactive and eclectic. I believe in meeting individuals where they are at and treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectic-behavioral, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Guy is straight to the point and qualified. Also he is not afraid to tell you the truth as opposed to just “listening”

Very helpful. I understand what he’s saying and don’t have to ask for clarification! That makes it super easy for me

I've worked with two other therapists before Guy Cooper, and his level of expertise and variety of healing modalities was exactly what I needed to work through healing an intense situation from a past abusive relationship/sexual assault/PTSD. He offers tools and suggestions to work through the healing process, which is exactly what I needed to finally break the subconscious patterns and programming that were keeping me from thriving in certain areas of my life. Thank you!
