About me

My name is Gwendolyn Marentes and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has practiced for 12 years. I have worked with a multitude of people from various backgrounds, and ages. I work primarily using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and employ Narrative Therapy, Client Centered Therapy and Logos-Therapy accordingly. I feel the most influential piece of a therapeutic relationship is the trust and rapport between client and therapist, in which I work diligently at throughout the process of therapy.
It is my deepest desire to truly hear and understand the struggles of those who suffer from anxiety, depression and grief. It is through my formal education that I can apply my knowledge but it is moreso through personal experience that I can understand, empathize and validate the raw emotions of human experience in times of vulnerability and emotional discomfort.
I strive at offering the individual the respect they deserve while exercising empathy, validation and psychoeducational tools to help individuals cope through these most difficult situations. I believe we can effectively help ourselves once we are taught and empowered to do so.
I invite individuals to meet and explore the possibilities of healing and moving forward from a place of emotional discomfort.

Gwendolyn helped me connect dots in my life in ways I had never realized. She was always kind, understanding, and patient with me in sessions and over text. I never felt judged or uncomfortable when talking to her. If I could I would recommend her to everyone I know!

Gwendolyn is an absolutely wonderful counselor. She listens when I need her too, but has also provided me with some incredible epiphanies that have really helped my healing journey. She is open-minded, nonjudgmental, and honest and I would recommend her over and over again if I could.
