About me

Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! Seeking support can be a challenge and taking the initial step can feel out of reach at times, but bringing support into your life can also be the best gift you can give to yourself. I am glad you are here.

My name is Heather Murphy and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from Simmons College in 2015, and my Bachelors of Arts degree in Art Therapy from Emmanuel College in 2008. Since then, I have worked in a variety of mental health care environments. Throughout this time, I continue to work closely with adolescents, adults and families. My time working in mental health has allowed me to gain experience and knowledge to work with you to find ways to get through life's difficulties with a nurturing therapeutic relationship.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I combine my kindness, humor, creativity and objectivity in my counseling approach. My practice is rooted in psychotherapy and client-centered therapy through a humanistic lens. I bring a strong sense of trust to my clients and value the uniqueness of each person I have an opportunity to meet with. I believe that we all are deserving of realizing and expressing our truest, most authentic selves connected to our capabilities and growth.

I am here to support you in developing the skills and the tools you need to navigate where you are in life -where ever that may be. Please let me know what questions you may have and I am excited and honored about the possibility of partnering with you through your journey.

Heather is amazing and is always there and gets back to me quickly! I found it hard to get a therapist I could talk to and she has been a great person to have on my side!

Very helpful easy process to find support

Heather has a great demeanor and made me feel welcome and appreciated the first time we spoke. She asks questions to get you thinking or to help change your perspective on a situation that you mightn’t have thought of alone. She somehow makes therapy fun and instead of dreading talking about what’s going on with myself, I find that I look forward to hearing her points of view and seeing her cheery face and pulling affirmation cards. She makes helping myself seem worthwhile.

Heather made me feel supported and comfortable right from the start. Therapy is intimidating to me and I wasn't sure what to expect! I felt right away that I was just chatting with a friend (who's a great listener!) I already feel more confident and hopeful after just a few sessions. The worksheets she provided were really spot on and super helpful.
