Hi, I’m Hilary! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP) in South Carolina. I have experience working with individuals with a wide range of concerns including trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, self-esteem, stress, motivation, health and wellness, anger, parenting, coping with life challenges and adjustments to life changes. I have worked with individuals on an outpatient and inpatient basis within community agencies, private hospitals, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and my own private practice.
My passion is to help you move forward by taking the steps needed to move in the direction you want to. To do that, I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am also certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure and Focused Health Coaching. I am warm, gentle and empathetic, yet firm and will push you to reach your goals through honesty, support and effective techniques. As everyone is different, I tailor these approaches to the specific needs, goals, and situations of each individual. I work with each person to develop and practice coping skills to manage stress and stressful situations throughout life. I believe in finding the strengths of each of you, and using these strengths to adapt, cope, and grow.
I often reinforce that if you continue to do what you’ve always done, you’ll continue to get what you’ve always gotten. So, what does all of this mean if you choose to begin therapy? It simply means we will work together to figure out how to change. We will find some thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping you “stuck,” and find more helpful thoughts and behaviors that lead to feeling better emotionally and reaching your goals.
I also believe the basis of any life-changing journey is a strong therapeutic relationship, and I enjoy spending time getting to know each of you to foster that support.
