My name is Ifeoma Morrison and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I received my Bachelor's in Psychology from Temple University; and my Master's in Social Work from Indiana University Purdue University. I have over 8 years of experience working with clients dealing with a variety of emotional challenges ranging from anxiety, depression, and trauma. My belief is that my clients are the experts of their lives. My goal is not to tell my clients what to do per se, but help my clients identify what they want and how to get there. The “how to get there” part is often different for each client; which is why I don’t apply a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.
I implement a more tailored client-centered approach that fits and works for my client’s situation and need. The goal is to help you process certain feelings and thoughts that are creating problems in your life, help you explore the nature and root of these feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, and ultimately work towards having a positive shift towards attaining the goals you identify. I am passionate about helping my clients gain a stronger spiritual and emotional life by processing through emotional difficulties, and learning about and building on their strengths and assets. Working with me typically looks like this: first we discuss what you would want to gain from our time together, and identify specific goals you are hoping to achieve. Then we break them down into smaller objectives, and practice strategies to help attain and maintain these goals. It is important that we work on goals and objectives that are relevant and essential to you. So, if I say something or introduce a strategy that isn’t connected to why you’ve come to me, please do not hesitate to respectfully stop me or point it out.
I truly believe that a positive therapeutic relationship is key to the success of our time together. You're not broken; so I am not here to fix you but to help you. I look forward to going on this journey with you.
