About me

Hello, I'm Inger. I am a Connecticut-based Licensed Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist. I am also a certified Hypnotherapist.

You know the type of therapists they show on TV or in the movies? The therapists who only ask you, “how does that make you feel?” and only speak in dull voices that would make anyone fall asleep? I can assure you – I am definitely not that type of therapist!

I am enthusiastic, friendly and warm - and I am known by people around me as someone who is extremely easy to talk to. That - and a lot of training - makes me a pretty good fit to be a therapist.

My approach to therapy is person-centered: my role is to listen, observe and understand your perspective. Your stories, needs, darkest hours and brightest moments take center stage in our work together.

Choosing to be in therapy is a big step. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. I provide counseling and psychotherapy that is collaborative and results oriented. Informed by your personal style and level of motivation, I use psychodynamic and behavioral therapies to help you set and achieve realistic goals. I am guided by the belief that the quality of my therapeutic relationship with you is a core and primary component to your treatment.

My areas of specialty include anxiety management, relationship conflict, helping clients recover and rebuild after divorce, and equipping co-parents to effectively work together. I am trained in the use of neuroscience to incorporate brain-based strategies with traditional therapeutic interventions to treat the symptoms of anxiety and motivate lasting change for calming the mind. I’m not afraid to talk about the hard or awkward stuff, and I’m also not afraid to let you know when you’re limiting yourself. I often use humor to interject a new perspective.

Grief Counseling specifically for the loss of a beloved partner is a focus area in my practice. As a certified Hypnotherapist, I incorporate both traditional psychotherapy techniques and hypnosis to help clients grieve in a healthy, productive manner that satisfies the need to protect the intimate connection, receive support from others, and nurture themselves.

There is no doubt about it - therapy is a lot of work. Change takes time and it takes courage. But it is so worth it!

I’m ready when you are…
