About me

Welcome!

First and foremost, I applaud you for seeking counseling and support during these ever-changing times. It can be a challenge to recognize needing support in achieving a goal(s) in life and even more challenging to seek out help. Throughout my work, I have had the privilege to assist individuals who struggle with addiction, lack of self-worth and confidence, skewed self-image and effects of low quality of life. I am blessed to have been able to help clients find hope, desire to live and self-confidence.

I am devoted to working with you on improving your mental health and helping you achieve a better quality of life.

My Experience and Credentials:

I have a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling from Capella University (2013) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. My experience as a counselor ranges with concentrations in addiction, individual, adolescent and family counseling. I spent a little over a year working with women in the federal prison system with mental illness, trauma and substance abuse/dependence. I worked closely with these women to tackle struggles with addiction, family, relationships, and lifestyle and to build on their strengths. Among this population, I’ve worked with individuals who faced significant trauma, substance dependence, PTSD, depression, self-harm, delusions, ADHD and anxiety.

My Therapy Style:

My approach to therapy is primarily client-centered which involves collaborating with the client to develop insight into their problems, lifestyle, relationships and desired outcomes. When developing a therapeutic relationship, we explore life through the client’s lens and can begin to shape the desired goals and incorporate concrete tools to help improve mental health and overall quality of life. Based on the client’s needs, desired outcome, depth of therapy and comfort level, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients’ therapeutic needs. Based on varying needs, I incorporate different types of therapy modalities including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy),(DBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Really great approach to therapy. I feel like it’s a safe, comfortable almost normal. There’s no pressure to feel like you have to open up straight away and when I did it was met with no judgement and understanding. The environment didn’t have to be very serious all the time which I appreciated a lot because I cry a lot haha, but it helped me to open up and be objective in my experience rather than getting emotional. I highly recommend, especially if you prefer a less tense environment.
