About Me

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor with over twelve years of experience as a counselor and psychotherapist. In addition, I bring over forty years of wisdom gleaned from working with individuals who prove time and again the resilience of the human spirit gives them the ability to overcome odds to find an optimal quality of life.
Each person not only has their own unique challenges, but they have the capacity to be their own teachers and find answers within, therefore each treatment plan differs accordingly. My counseling style is to create a nurturing environment that invites openness and transparent authenticity by being a listening presence. I highly value human dignity and am a non-judgmental respecter of persons and find that there is an innate goodness in all persons. This goodness is at the core of our work to help you find balance of mind, body and spirit in all areas of your life. I specialize in relationship issues, self-esteem, self-worth and identity concerns, conflict resolution, anger management, depression, grief and loss, feelings of shame, trauma and abuse, spiritual discernment and whatever is troubling your soul that needs mending in order to give you inner peace and joy.

Jackie is amazing. I have only met with her once but she listened carefully to my situation and provided the perspective I needed to get through a painful family situation. Through chat, she has continued to support me with great advice and solid tools I can use in the future. I highly recommend Jackie!

Jackie has been great. She's very easy to talk to and has been available when I needed advice/to be talked down in an impromptu situation. She is very caring and holds me accountable while also addressing root cause issues. I'd recommend her highly

Jackie Burns will have forever made a huge impact on my life. I went to her when I was in a really dark place. I was alone, moved somewhere where I didn’t know anyone, was heartbroken, and dealing with inner demons. she never failed to truly listen to me and take everything I said into consideration. She was patient with me as I would forget to respond or I would forget worksheets. She was always calm and helpful. She open my eyes to what I really needed. She helped me get to where I am today. I’m truly thankful for this experience and to have known this wonderful professional. She was always there when I needed and answered promptly. As I go forward, now stable and genuinely happy, I will always think of Jackie and her kind words. It is nice having someone in your corner when you feel like you’ve been pushed to the lions den. I don’t think I can describe the impact she’s made. I went from being incredibly depressed, anxious, alone, and tired to now being the happiest I’ve ever been and soon to be married.

Jackie is a great listener & her note taking reflects this. She asks pointed questions & really invites the client to soul search. If you’re ready to become a better version of yourself, I recommend Jackie.

Jackie is one of the warmest, most understanding people in the world. She is always free of judgement, full of kindness, and very wise. She gives a person good advice and new perspective, while being an amazing ear and conversationalist. It's been amazingly easy to feel comfortable with her. In the past 7 months, my self esteem and ability to de-catastrophize have increased tenfold. I cannot recommend her enough. She is a very special person, and the world is lucky to have her.

Written by S.A. on Oct 15, 2018 after therapy with Jackie for 2 months on issues concerning relationship issues

Jackie has really helped me through a lot of what I’ve been struggling with over the past few years. I don’t think I would be as hopeful or relaxed with my life as I am now if it had not been for the help I received through BetterHelp. My counselor really made me feel like I could get through my hard time and come out on top, and I still have my ups and downs, but having someone to sit with every week and talk about what’s going on with my life and put things into perspective saved me from myself. I have learned how to believe I am good enough and that what I am feeling I can change and overcome.

Jackie is an absolute gem. She’s really kindhearted and supportive, but also tries to help you see things from dissenting perspectives. She is great at provoking your mind to dig deeper, to really pinpoint where your problems stem from. All in all, she’s encouraging and relatable. I really enjoy talking with her, even though I’ve only really had two in-depth sessions with her one on one. So far, she’s been a great help.

Jackie has been amazing! She listens and provides you with the opportunity to reflect on the why and the next. She has been a great listener who challenges my irrational thoughts in the most caring nonjudgmental way. I am thankful for being connected to such a kind and caring spirit.

Jackie is a wise voice of reason and empathetic listener. We've only had a few sessions but just knowing there is a non-judgemental and caring human being who is there to listen and help me work through my struggles has been incredibly helpful! Thanks Jackie :)
