About Me

Hello-

My name is Jamal Morton and I am a Licensed independent Mental Health Practitioner(LIMHP) in the state of Nebraska. I earned my Bachelors Degree at Bellevue University in Behavioral Science and earned my Masters Degree in 2015 from Bellevue University in Clinical Counseling. My practice has focused on clients with co-occurring disorders. I specialize in working with individuals who experience difficulty controlling anger, anxiety, depression, abuse/neglect, parenting difficulties, addiction, stress, grief, trauma, lack of coping skills, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I have expertise in working with diverse multicultural populations. I value a collaborative approach and want to provide the support you need to grow in a safe space.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, warm, goal oriented, and client centered. I use Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and to take positive steps to move forward in their lives.

Jamal has been an outstanding therapist by being flexible, responsive and willing to meet me where I am. He listens and provides useful recommendations and co-creating solutions to many issues I face while also helping me recognize the progress and success I've had in making the changes I want to make. Jamal has been a wonderful counsellor and I've had a great experience working with him for the past 6 months. The time I've spent with Jamal has been very helpful. Being able to express myself and receive feedback on how to approach my days is great. I'm grateful. Jamal is an incredible counselor, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience working with him. From our first session, Jamal was attentive, kind, and compassionate. Jamal is very easy to talk to, like a friend or a brother. During our sessions I felt as though he not only listened well, but also clearly understood my concerns. I appreciate the different analogies he’d use, as it helped to keep key things in my mind and it was easy to recall them outside as I’m going throughout my day. During our initial phone call he was very attentive and his questioning style makes you feel like you’re having a regular conversation with a new friend and he sets a relaxing environment. At no point during the session did I feel judged or that maybe he wouldn’t understand my background. I would definitely recommend him to other people.
