About me

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. If you have questions about anything you see here please feel free to contact me.

My name is Jim Dailey.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Michigan. I have 13 years of experience in social work and seven years of experience as a Mental Health Therapist. My work has stretched across topics such as: depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury, aging, chronic illness, self esteem, comorbid conditions, coping with life changes, and grief & loss. I have worked with a diverse group of clients over the years. In my opinion, the best part about social work is the opportunity to build a therapeutic alliance with people of different backgrounds. And honestly, I am excited about the possibility of working with you.

I would describe my therapy style as supportive; judgment free. My peers have described me as having a calming presence. My clients have been comfortable opening up to me about life experiences. I offer a safe space to vent feelings of stress, anxiety, anger. My job is to reflect these feelings as you work through them.

Silence is also welcomed during a session. Sometimes we need more time to collect our thoughts. We are living in times of uncertainty and we may feel completely different from one day to the next. I will meet you where you are at.

In terms of therapy types, I utilize relaxation therapy as well as: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing. My clients have reported feeling more at ease after doing my guided breathing/muscle relaxation exercises.

One other thing, I want you to know that I take confidentiality very seriously. I adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics. Web therapy is a relatively new thing so you might have questions about confidentiality practices. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions about privacy or anything else related to virtual counseling.

Thanks again.

Jim was really helpful and a good listener. He had good suggestions for tools to navigate thru problems. He was never judgmental and was able to talk to him about many different topics. He checks in regularly to see how things are going and is good at responding in a timely manner outside of regularly scheduled sessions.

Prior to seeing Jim, it was very uncomfortable for me to open up about my feelings, reactions, and experiences because I feared judgement of others. James really did provide a safe space to work through very difficult topics that I have avoided talking about in the past. He also asked many probing, but gentle questions to challenge negative thinking. Therapy was never easy for me to attend, but by the end of sessions I usually felt uplifted in some way.

So wonderful! He kept my goals, values, and achievements in mind each step of the way. He is patient, calm, and very easy to open up to. Also, the times I needed guidance when our scheduled appointment was too far away, he was prompt and thorough with his responses. I can’t thank him enough for the support he’s given me and how far I’ve come! I would absolutely recommend him to someone in need of counseling.
