My name is Jan Abbott. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified professional counselor supervisor (CPCS) in the state of Georgia. I have been doing mental health therapy for over 13 years in the greater Atlanta area. I have been the clinical director at several mental health clinics for in house and community therapy agencies. I have also spearheaded and created whole health programs for medical doctors to ensure my clients are able to heal the mind, body, and spirit. For the last 6 years, I have been in private practice where I have worked with a plethora of clients from all walks of life, with great success. My ability to help clients, especially those who are resistant or unaware of what changes are needed in their lives has been a great success as well. I have a wealth of experience working with individuals, groups, couples, and families within a therapeutic framework, using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and many other modalities have aided in that success. I have a history of working in interdisciplinary teams, including doctors, lawyers, the courts, DFCS community case managers, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other community partners to meet the needs of a very diverse clientele. I have the uncanny ability to use an array of innovative plans, therapy styles, and resources to develop ideal solutions for many therapeutic, community, and systematic problems in order to empower my client base.

Our sessions are very helpful and I’ll be more than happy if they can continue. However, living overseas in a vastly different time zone makes finding a convenient time to meet very, very difficult.

Jan supports me without judgement while keeping me honest. She's not afraid to open up about her own experiences dealing with mental health issues, and makes it so much easier to really dig into all of the facets of my psyche that I've been terrified to admit to even some of my closest friends. She also sets you up with trustworthy resources to refer to on YouTube and other sites. This is great for those mental health internet rabbitholes because now I'm certain of the value of the info I'm getting. 10/10 person and therapist

I've not been working with Jan long, and we have some way to go to understand and get to know each other to best help me, but I've enjoyed working with her so far. She has new ideas to help me manage anxiety and stress, and has helped outline a plan of care that makes me feel like getting better is possible.

I really appreciate Jan‘s understanding, acceptance and support. I‘ve had two video calls with her and I already feel much better as she showed me ways how to cope with my overthinking and anxiety. I love her authenticity and her personal stories. Instead of crying,I‘m laughing during the sessions and I‘m having fun talking about my serious problems. I highly recommend her to everyone who struggles with anxiety and overthinking! Thanks Jan!

Jan is one of the smartest people I have ever met. She knows how to connect with you, she sees where you've come from and sees where you're heading. Jan can verbalise things that I was never aware of, and she does so in such a calm, friendly manner that I feel uplifted with every session we have together.
