About me

Hello! I'm Dr. Jane Barton and I'm a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Tennessee. I received my doctorate and masters degrees from Oklahoma State University with special concentration in cognitive behavioral therapy and couples therapy. I have more than 20 years of experience working in the mental health field and have helped people with a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, phase of life issues, trauma, divorce, addictions and many others.

My role as your therapist is to empower you to change in a way that leads to a more meaningful, healthy and satisfying life. At best, life can be incredibly challenging. At worst, life events can be very painful. It can be much easier to go through difficult times with someone who can help you to believe in yourself. One of my specialties is assisting people in looking at their thinking and their beliefs, and exploring how these may be untruths or dysfunctional. How we think is extremely powerful. Changing how we think and changing our dysfunctional beliefs about the world can be healing and liberating. A guide and a partner in the process of change can be invaluable. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy and in helping people overcome cognitive roadblocks to achieving their hopes and dreams. You've taken a big step in looking for help and I'd love to walk with you on this journey.

She’s an amazing therapist. I couldn’t not imagine a better counselor for me. She had helped me more in the last year that I’ve been working with her than I could ever have imagined.

I’ve never stuck with a therapist, and therapy in general, for such a long period of time. Dr. B is so thoughtful and kind. I’ve had such personal growth since I started doing weekly phone call sessions with her. I’m so grateful to have her cheering me on and helping lift me back up when I’m feeling low. She’s a wonderful therapist, and I’m so glad I got matched with her!
