Jane Perkins, LPC, LCPC
About me
Hi! My name is Jane Perkins.
You have courageously sought professional help to obtain a more fulfilling and happy life. Reaching out and setting up our first appointment is the first step toward the changes you want to see in your life. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and Missouri. I have held a license for counseling for over 25 years and have experience working with adults and adolescents.
I’m passionate about helping people find purpose-filled lives. Many have no idea where to start looking and instead get caught up in what Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok says about creating dreams, then even begin to pursue those dreams!
Pursuing and unlocking who you are is attainable! We can do this by utilizing faith-based therapeutic practices. Helping clients discover the secrets planted plainly before our eyes while utilizing scripture is energizing. The Bible is enough to help anyone willing to test its principles through the toughest times. “The Word of God is sufficiently useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” ~ 2 Tim. 3:16. Besides working at BetterHelp, I engage with clients at a private Biblical Counseling practice called Are You Ready Counseling.
I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, are coping with addictions, desire to seek a new direction in their career, and are searching to find their specific purpose in life. If you choose to proceed in therapy with me, I vow not to misuse your time in reaching set goals.
I am a Solution-Focused Therapist. This is generally a short-term, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that helps clients create solutions rather than dwelling on problems. Therapy with me will be more than talking things out. Our therapeutic relationship will examine the different avenues you may need to explore or change to ease your life's pain, fear, or indecision. You will play a big part in the healing process.
At the end of our sessions, my goal is to provide you with a personal challenge or homework that helps you continue working towards the specific personal goals you want. Goals will be specific, measurable, action-oriented, reasonable, and time-oriented. Effort and practice are the pathways to change in one’s life. Just as it takes practice to learn to play a new instrument, condition yourself to run a race, or set aside time to learn to play a game of chess, you will need to practice new skills to overcome psychological difficulties. My counseling approach includes secular and faith-based therapeutic characteristics, drawing influence from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness approaches while utilizing biblical resources in the therapeutic sessions.
I desire to create an open and safe environment to discuss your thoughts and feelings. This includes topics of faith that can be shared without fear of judgment. In the Bible, God gives specific instructions on how to positively restructure patterns of cognitive distortions and encourage behavior change so that we can experience peace of mind and joy.
Treatment of mental health and other psychological concerns includes Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual health.
Physical Health: Physical health plays a significant role in mental well-being. Regular exercise, proper nutrition, adequate sleep, and good physical health can positively affect mood, stress, and cognitive functioning.
Emotional Health: Understanding and addressing emotions are crucial in mental health treatment. This involves developing emotional intelligence, coping skills, and communication abilities. Therapy will focus on helping you navigate and manage your emotions effectively.
Spiritual Health: Spirituality is knowing there is something out there greater than ourselves. Spirituality is why connecting with God the Creator is essential to mental health and coping with life's challenges. This can include engaging in religious practices, meditative prayer, meditation on scripture, and exploring beliefs and values.
Integrating these three components can complement traditional therapeutic approaches and lead to a more comprehensive and effective treatment plan for mental health concerns. It's important to note that individuals may prioritize these aspects differently based on their unique needs, cultural backgrounds, and belief systems. Hence, as a mental health professional, I often adopt a personalized approach to treatment.

Jane is an incredible therapist. She exudes compassion, wisdom, and insight to guide her client through their struggles. Using a faith-based approach, she reminds clients of the promises of God, while implementing sound therapeutic techniques. As someone who chronically quits therapy, I can say with confidence Jane is the best I have ever come across and I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their mental, spiritual, and emotional health.

Jane has been an answer to prayer. I have been dealing with depression, anxiety, and loneliness but most of all feeling so far away from the Church. I needed someone to listen to and guide me by pointing me to the Bible but also showing me God's love through compassion.

Jane was truly a GOD SEND! She helped me through literally the hardest emotional experience I have ever faced with such love, understanding, and grace. I felt that I could be open without judgment yet she has a sweet subtle way of being direct in a way that doesn’t offend you, but encourages you. I couldn’t be more thankful for God causing our paths to cross. I have bragged on her to all of my friends and truly look forward to connecting with her in the future if needed. Additionally, the presence of the Lord was ever present in our sessions in such an undeniable way. I can honestly say Jane is the best therapist I have encountered thus far. Blessings on blessing to you Jane!!!

Great listener, I feel heard with Jane. She gives me the tools I need to work on issues and is empathetic toward me but gives things to me straight as well; I’m so glad I found her!
