About Me

Hello, I’m Janet, a licensed mental health counselor in both New York and Florida. I have over 20 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including the public-school system and the Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities in New York State, and have been in private practice since 2013. Having always had a desire to care for others, my first job was babysitting for a family of four children throughout high school. After studying nursing in college, I decided that the profession was not for me and with those credits received a BA in Human Development from SUNY Empire State College and then obtained a graduate degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from Sage Graduate School.
In practice, I utilize multiple treatment modalities including person-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused therapy to those seeking suggestions on how to manage stress, mental health, career and family issues. Since every individual has her or his own personal narrative, together we will challenge your concerns with personalized treatment and the help of genograms and family systems therapy. Additionally, I have post graduate training in couples and sex therapy with an interest in attachment and personality theories, as well as changing lifestyles with spirituality and enlightenment throughout the lifespan.

My counselor has been responding to my messages in a timely manner which is important to me. I have completed a few work sheets which was helpful. She is easy to speak with and I like the online communication as I get a lot of anxiety so being able to type out what I'm thinking in a relaxed environment is helpful.
