Janet Lawrence

About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor and I am also a licensed chemical dependency counselor. I started in the field working with clients who are chemically dependent and did this for several years. I am currently working for a mental health authority completing assessments and giving preliminary diagnoses to clients with mental health disorders who are seeking treatment. I have been doing this for about four years now. I have worked with clients with severe trauma, depression, anxiety, the list is endless. I have also helped clients in crises.
I like to utilize cognitive behavioral therapy a lot in counseling. Some other modalities that I like to use are solution-focused brief therapy and Gestalt therapy. Counseling is dependent upon the individual, though, and it is important to assess the person's needs according to the problems that are presented.
I have primarily worked with adults throughout my time in counseling and have learned that is important to be very genuine with people. I would describe my counseling style as genuine but gentle. Counseling does require work in order to achieve the desired change. I am willing to help with that and I look forward to hearing from you.

Janet is the best therapist and counselor in the world! I would recommend anyone to go to Janet. She is a wonderful listener and she consistently gives the best advice. Janet does an incredible job of assisting me in the maintenance and progression of my therapy goals. I feel like I gain a newfound perspective and second-wind each time I leave the session.

Janet's ability to let me open myself up is what keeps me coming back. By listening first she is reactive towards pinpointing my uncertainties and proactive in ensuring I don't make decisions I will regret. I believe I have a lot of growth to make and am in capable hands.
