About me

Welcome! I like to think counseling is a wonderful journey to help explore yourself and develop helpful coping skills when facing difficulty in life. I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in the field. I have a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the State of New Hampshire, and I am also a DBT Linehan-Board of Certification, Certified Clinician and an EMDR-Trained Therapist. I have worked with many different individuals, including those who struggle with depression, anxiety, addictions, and trauma. I think of counseling as a process of working together to develop an insightful mind set into who you are and how to make meaning from your experiences.

My counseling style involves a high level of active listening upon my part and an overall collaborative effort to help you meet your specific goals and needs. I tend to practice from a person-centered, humanistic perspective. I also have specific training in dialectical behavior therapy, which is an incredibly helpful combination of developing skills in handling highly stressful situations in a healthy way, as well as improve upon communication skills and regulating emotions. I also work with individuals using EMDR therapy as a modality to help resolve unprocessed traumatic experiences. I believe everyone's story and experiences create strengths that can be helpful in feeling better.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to start the process of counseling. Something you might want to know about me is that I've been in the client's seat in the counseling relationship and understand just how much strength and courage it takes to talk with a counselor. If you're ready to start the journey, I'm here to support you.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jaret Romano. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Working with Jaret Romano has been a genuinely transformative experience. What sets Jaret apart is that he-- despite all of his expertise-- does not use a one-size-fits-all approach. He is profoundly skillful and emotionally intelligent. He takes the time to understand who I am, how I respond, and what I need from session to session. Because of that, I’ve always felt seen and met as an individual, not as a set of symptoms. It is this authenticity that makes such a difference in my life.
Jaret Romano also creates an atmosphere of safety, and sincerity that makes it possible for me to trust. Due to his accompaniment, thoughtful guidance, and reliable presence these seven months, I’ve been able to explore difficult experiences, and begin working through trauma in ways that I believe will actually free me in the long run.
