About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with over 6 years of experience working as a therapist and Substance Abuse Counselor. My passion is to work with individual who are interested in taking steps to improve their mental health. I am an open-minded, understanding, caring, compassionate counselor who will listen and teach the skills that you will need to overcome life challenges without judgement. I believe that every individual is unique and learns differently. I approach every session with the mindset that not every therapy technique works for the same for every person. When I meet with you, we will get to know each other to figure out what will work for you. I have experience working with those who are struggling with ADHD, adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, domestic violence victims and offenders, anger management.
Personally, I have many life experiences that I draw from which helps me empathizes with my clients and understand them better. I have military ties as child and currently as an adult. I understand the struggles of the military life and I know how to get through the highs and lows of deployment, I also understand the struggle associated with reintegrating back into civilian life.
I understand how an unhealthy relationship can be devastating leaving emotional scars on all members of the family. I know what steps it takes to overcome the negative thoughts that leave you with low-self-esteem.
I am a warm and interactive counselor who believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach sometimes combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and rational-emotive counseling, however, I identify with an eclectic style which enables me to use what works for that person at that moment. I provide Christian counseling; I have a strong faith and have found that it can be a great source of strength when we are going through difficult times in our lives. I look forward meeting with you and talking through your problems with you to come up with solutions to make your life better.

Jean has catered to me in every way possible when she can! That’s the thing, I understand she has her own life to live but she’s also helping me with mine. She makes herself available a lot of the time and helps in various different ways. Although I’ve only been working with her for a short amount of time, it’s working out to be something I’ve enjoyed a lot.
