Dr. Jean Miller, LPC
About me
As a client centered therapist, I use a nondirective empathic approach in empowering and motivating my clients. Rather than being seen as the expert, I prefer to walk alongside my clients, working as equal partners in the therapeutic relationship. I believe in a positive approach to counseling, emphasizing holistic wellness. My areas of emphasis include depression and anxiety, strengthening relationships, life transitions, and holistic wellness. I have more than 13 years of counseling experience.
I have extensive experience in the human services and counseling fields. This experience includes clinical work in private practice, non-profit organizations, and in counselor education as a clinical supervisor, educator, and administrator.I provide individual counseling and psychotherapy, group counseling, support groups, community classes, and educational trainings and workshops. I am actively involved in mental health advocacy and education, as Vice President of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Arapahoe Douglas. I live in Colorado, and have an MA Degree in Counseling, a PhD in Education, and am licensed as an LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor, NCC, Nationally Certified Counselor, and ACS, Approved Clinical Supervisor. I look forward to walking with you on your counseling journey!
On a personal note, I have been married for 25 years to my college sweetheart. We have two incredible children, ages 20 and 24, and a house full of pets! My daughter is in college, and my son is finishing college and is a professional musician. I have lived in beautiful Colorado since I came here after high school, and I absolutely love it here. The only thing that we are missing is the beach! In my free time, I love to read, take classes, workout, do yoga, spend time with my family, and go to concerts with music loving husband!
