About Me

Hello. I have been working with people as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as an Occupational Therapist for the past 26 years. This means that I not only believe in the healing properties that can be found with sharing thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental relationship, but I also strongly believe in the importance of integrating purposeful activity into our work together. I like to foster an environment in which we can work together as a team. YOU are the expert in your life, and therapy can help you to make the best decisions to get your life back on track. To this end, I will often give people assignments to complete between sessions. It might be something to read, an exercise designed to get you thinking, or a task to get you to examine your thoughts or feelings. It all depends on what goals you have chosen to work on during our time together.

Some specific areas I can help you with are feelings of depression and anxiety, managing stress, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse concerns, difficulty with your career or relationships, chronic heath issues, caregiver burnout or stress, issues related to a history of abuse, mood swings, low self esteem and grief.

I understand how very difficult it can be to reach out for help and am so glad that you have made this positive step for yourself. I would very much like the opportunity to make this journey with you.

Jean’s really attentive and helpful. I love the quotes and the worksheets she gives me, as they really assist with productively handling stress and anxiety.

Best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Better Help finds a counselor that is based on your needs. I couldn’t have searched myself for a better fit than Jean Snyder.
I look forward to our weekly sessions. She has walked me through some serious issues and always offers information that helps me keep both feet on the ground. She always reply’s quickly to my texts. I would recommend Better Help to anyone struggling I am so grateful that I was paired up with Jean. She knows what she’s doing and does her work with such compassion. If I could recommend a coucelor for someone with issues as myself it would be Jean.

I have been working with Jean for the last month and in the short amount of time working together, I feel like she asks me challenging questions that get me thinking! She's already challenging me and as someone that has been to therapy throughout my entire life, having someone challenge me in the first month is quite impressive. She's down to earth, personable (not all therapists are!) and attentive. I would recommend Jean full heartedly!
