“The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift.”― J.K. Rowling
Hi! My name is Jennie and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. I have been practicing therapy in a clinic setting for 7 years. I have done work with children to adult clients, but I love to work with adolescents to adults.
I am passionate about helping individuals, families, and couples reach their goals. Recently, I wanted to be able to help a wider range of clients or those who may not have accessibility to in-person therapy and so started online therapy. I also have a private practice called Patronus Counseling. The Latin word patronus originates from Ancient Rome and is defined as the protector of a client or patron. Because of this, I chose the name Patronus Counseling for my therapy practice to convey wanting to help my clients reach a level of healing and ability.
In therapy, I strive to provide my clients with a safe, non-judgmental, and caring place to explore anything that may be holding them back from the life they want to live.
Life is complex and sometimes we need support. I have dedicated my career to providing that support to my clients in the most person-centered way possible.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, contact me. Even if you are unsure, reach out and we can explore that.
I graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I obtained my Master of Social Work Degree from the Greater Rochester Collaborative of SUNY Brockport and Nazareth College. I have been trained to provide psychotherapy for all kinds of issues including trauma, depression, grief, and substance abuse. I started my career at Rochester General Hospital as a Primary Therapist before relocating and taking an Outpatient Therapist and Forensic Therapist position for a county mental health clinic. Most recently, have switched gears to establish my private therapy practice and continue my work online.

I am happily married and we have a chihuahua named Cedric who is all too spoiled (I did not pick his name despite being a Harry Potter fanatic). I love to travel and have had the opportunity to travel across the US, to Canada, England, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, France, Dubai, India, and South Korea. I love to learn about the world and new cultures. I am a very family-oriented person who is till working on her spider phobia (haven't quite tackled it yet), and I am obsessed with the color green.
I think therapy is amazing and personally believe everyone could benefit from it (but hey, I’m a therapist). Ultimately, I want to make therapy trendy. I want to break down any stigma associated with it so that anyone who is interested can benefit from it.

Jennifer geib Has been good to me. She made me feel understood and i’ve never felt judged for one second, just genuinely seemed concerned about my safety and well being. Very professional, She listens, takes time to really analyze whats being said, and takes time to write a well thought response. I often feel like I’m wasting people’s time, but I’ve felt comfortable and I haven't been worried that i would be too much when talking to her. I recommend her she does a great job with counseling.
Jennifer has a brilliant sixth sense in figuring out what is bothering you, bringing you to ideas, thoughts and solutions in a subtle, friendly and un-invading way. I'm thankful to her for letting me learn about more about my issues in a relaxed way.
Jennifer is amazing and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She helped me through one of the toughest moments of my life and is respectful and attentive. Thanks so much for matching me with her!!
I absolutely LOVE Jennifer. I went through a few different therapists in my life, and none of them have really stuck. They just really didn't understand me or my life. Jennifer is so awesome. She knows exactly what I need to focus on, is understanding and helps me look at situations in ways I would've never done on my own. She instantly made me feel comfortable talking with her. I would definitely say she has helped me get better perspectives on things and feel more like "you know what, hell yeah, I got this," instead of like, "oh holy shit what is my life?!" 10/10 would recommend.
She is a great counselor. I feel like she actually takes the time to ask how I feel and tries to understand rather than just assume she knows how I'm feeling about things! I feel actually heard and listened too!
I am enjoying my conversations with Jennifer. She is thoughtful and thorough in her responses which makes me feel heard and respected. Before we "met", I was a bit worried that discussing the ins and outs of my mental health and personal life on a website would be, well, impersonal, but it hasn't been at all. Jennifer has been warm and open and has made me feel comfortable from the start.
She is very thoughtful, and well-spoken. She's helping me figure out my what's going on in my life and I really appreciate her. I highly recommend her for anyone going through something they really cant explain or begin to understand.
