“The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift.”― J.K. Rowling
Hi! My name is Jennie and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. I have been practicing therapy in a clinic setting for almost 7 years. I have done work with children to adult clients, but I love to work with adolescents to adults.
I am passionate about helping individuals, families, and couples reach their goals. Recently, I have started online therapy and I also have a private practice called Patronus Counseling PLLC. The Latin word patronus comes from Ancient Rome and is defined as the protector of a client. I chose the name Patronus Counseling for my therapy practice to convey wanting to help my clients reach a level of healing and ability.
In therapy, I strive to provide my clients with a safe, non-judgmental, and caring place to explore anything that may be holding them back from the life they want to live.
Life is complex and sometimes we need support. I have dedicated my career to providing that support to my clients in the most person-centered way possible.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, contact me. Even if you are unsure, reach out and we can explore that.
I graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I obtained my Master of Social Work Degree from the Greater Rochester Collaborative of SUNY Brockport and Nazareth College. I have been trained to provide psychotherapy for all kinds of issues including (trauma, depression, grief, substance abuse, etc). I started my career at Rochester General Hospital as a Primary Therapist. I have also established my private therapy practice and started my work online.

I am happily married and we have a chihuahua named Cedric (I did not pick the name despite being a Harry Potter fanatic) who is all too spoiled. I love to travel and have had the opportunity to travel across the US, to Canada, England, Italy, Dubai, Germany, India, and South Korea. I love to learn about the world and new cultures. I am very family-oriented, have a phobia of spiders (I'm working on it), and I love the color green.
I think therapy is amazing and personally believe everyone could benefit from it (but hey, I’m a therapist). I want to make therapy trendy, I want to break down any stigma associated with it so that anyone who is interested can benefit from it.

Jennifer has a brilliant sixth sense in figuring out what is bothering you, bringing you to ideas, thoughts and solutions in a subtle, friendly and un-invading way. I'm thankful to her for letting me learn about more about my issues in a relaxed way.
Jennifer is amazing and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She helped me through one of the toughest moments of my life and is respectful and attentive. Thanks so much for matching me with her!!
I absolutely LOVE Jennifer. I went through a few different therapists in my life, and none of them have really stuck. They just really didn't understand me or my life. Jennifer is so awesome. She knows exactly what I need to focus on, is understanding and helps me look at situations in ways I would've never done on my own. She instantly made me feel comfortable talking with her. I would definitely say she has helped me get better perspectives on things and feel more like "you know what, hell yeah, I got this," instead of like, "oh holy shit what is my life?!" 10/10 would recommend.
She is a great counselor. I feel like she actually takes the time to ask how I feel and tries to understand rather than just assume she knows how I'm feeling about things! I feel actually heard and listened too!
I am enjoying my conversations with Jennifer. She is thoughtful and thorough in her responses which makes me feel heard and respected. Before we "met", I was a bit worried that discussing the ins and outs of my mental health and personal life on a website would be, well, impersonal, but it hasn't been at all. Jennifer has been warm and open and has made me feel comfortable from the start.
She is very thoughtful, and well-spoken. She's helping me figure out my what's going on in my life and I really appreciate her. I highly recommend her for anyone going through something they really cant explain or begin to understand.
