Jennifer "Jen" Somerville, BACP
About me
Hello. I am Jen. I have been a qualified counsellor since 2018, and I work in an integrative model. What that really means is that I am person centred in my core – I believe that you are the expert on you, and that sometimes you need a space, and some support, to work out an issue or a challenge. I also draw on other modalities of counselling (this is where ‘integrative’ comes in) where appropriate to your circumstances.
I can work with many issues, and am happy to work with you on whatever it is that you want to bring. To give you an idea of the sort of things I have worked with more specifically I have supported challenges such as homelessness, addiction, family issues, parenting, adoption, study and student challenges, school attendance challenges, bereavement and loss, palliative care and life shortening conditions, child loss, religious trauma, work issues, and identity issues.
I work with adults and young people, and have a further qualification for working with young people as well as adults. I have done a lot of work with students of all ages too. I offer short and longer term counselling and I can see you face to face, online or by telephone.
Please get in touch if you have any further questions, and I look forward to working with you soon.

Efficient and good communication

She is the best! Always so understanding and considerate and empathetic, and she’s always asking the right questions and making me see the side of the story I really need. All the while supporting my decisions. She also reaches out on her own quite often, especially when she knows there is stuff going on, which I really appreciate.

Amazing! First session and I don’t feel like anyone could have made me feel more comfortable

Jen is incredibly professional but also hugely relatable and you feel you can tell her anything without judgement or worry she will misunderstand. She had an incredible understanding of my concerns and what kind of person I was from the offset which has helped our sessions immeasurably! She’s great!
