My name is Jenny, and I am a qualified humanistic/integrative counsellor. I am an approachable, compassionate therapist and my aim is to provide a safe, secure environment for my clients. The modality that I use is person centred / humanistic, but I also use elements of other approaches such as Psychodynamic and Sensory Motor Therapy. I have had significant training in trauma and work for a sexual violence charity.
People generally come to counselling if they are feeling the need to talk through any difficulties they are having. These can include problems in relationships, past or current traumas, depression and anxiety, bereavement, or just because they need to work something through. Counselling is for everybody and it gives people the space and time to talk through whatever difficulties or worries that they are experiencing.
My counselling approach focuses on the here and now and also links in with the past and past experiences. The sessions are client led and you will have full autonomy over what you want to talk about. This approach works towards self development and also identifies any patterns of behaviour or obstacles that are stopping you from moving forward.
I can offer a safe, non judgemental, confidential space where you will feel secure and comfortable enough to share any concerns or issues that are affecting your emotional well being and personal development.
On our initial assessment session, we will discuss the therapeutic model of counselling, how I work, and what you think will be the best way of working for you. We will discuss what it is you want to get out of the sessions or what you want to achieve. I fully believe that the counsellor/client relationship is key to therapeutic change so it's really important that you feel comfortable whilst we are working together.
