About me

Welcome! You’ve made an important first step in prioritizing your health and your needs. I’m happy you’re here. It’s not always an easy step to take and you did it anyways! I don’t believe anyone expects us to address and treat all our physical health needs alone, our mental health needs should not be treated any differently. Your being here, taking that first and sometimes difficult first step, tells me we share in that belief. Addressing our mental health should be just as commonplace as addressing our physical health, so thank you for your courage and willingness to defy the stigma!!!

I look forward to partnering with you and being invited into your wellness journey. Below is a bit of information about me, my education and approach to counseling. Please take your time and consider whether we will be a good fit. Our connection and ability to form a working relationship will be one of the most important factors in the outcome of our time together.

My name is Jessica Gorringe and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Supervisor residing in Meridian, ID. I attended Boise State University and received my B.A. in Psychology in 2012. I immediately began working towards my M.S. in Clinical Counseling at Northwest Nazarene University and successfully completed my education in 2015.

I work most frequently with young adults, adults, couples, and families. The areas of concern I work with most frequently are as follows (but not limited to): mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, parent/child relationships, divorce adjustment/transition, academic concerns, stress management, relationship concerns, attachment disorders, and concerns or stressors that arise from the changes and transitions that occur as we develop as a human.

I employ a strengths-based approach to counseling. I believe we all possess the answers we are looking for and have the internal strengths and ability to make the changes we desire; sometimes it just takes a little outside help and encouragement to do so! My theoretical orientation is rooted in Adlerian psychotherapy and client centered therapy; however, I integrate techniques from many treatment modalities including, but not limited to, cognitive- behavioral, existential, positive psychology, psychodynamic, attachment-based developmental theories, solution-oriented, gestalt, rational-emotive behavioral and experiential therapy.

I provide individualized treatment for each client founded principles of congruency, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that counseling is most successful when the counselor and client develop a strong working partnership. Partnering with each other allows the client to feel safe, supported, comfortable and confident as we work together to meet the identified goals for our time together.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jessica Gorringe. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I’ve been working with JESSICA for several months now and I find her to be very professional and yet friendly. She is a good listener but also provides ideas and feedback. She’s not one of those counselors who starts the session by asking what I want to talk about, She’s the kind to reconfirm where we were at in our last discussion and share some thoughts she has had about it since then and asks me to bring her up to speed on those efforts and topics at this time. I appreciate that she regularly gives me resources and ideas on how to address issues I have, not just empathize and tell me it’s normal to feel how I feel. I can get that from a neighbor

I've only had a couple sessions with Jessica, but I already feel great about working with her. She really validates my feelings and makes me feel like regardless of what is going on, I can conquer anything. She also provides great resources that help put things into a different perspective and give alternative approaches to a variety of obstacles.

This is my first time seeking therapy and I am so grateful to be matched with Jessica! She is extremely attentive, great at listening and asking questions to understand more of the situation and helping to come up with realistic solutions, where applicable. She also sends me resources to further support the advice she has provided which have been very helpful! After my first session, I had such a weight lifted and felt really good about moving forward on some decisions I was contemplating. That great feeling definitely carried over into the rest of my week. I look forward to future sessions with Jessica!

I found Ms. Gorringe to be a perfect fit as a therapist she had legitimate expertise in the areas I need the most work. She was even willing to work with me through private practice when I had issues with my HSA and insurance. 10/10
