Hello and welcome! What a wonderful and courageous step you have made! My name is Jessica Slack, I am a clinical therapist and a licensed master of social work (LMSW) through the state of Michigan. I acquired both my bachelors and masters of social work through the University of Michigan, and have been practicing as a counselor for individuals, couples, and families for the past 8 years. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including personality disorders, mood disorders (including bipolar disorder and depression), anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, substance use and addiction, relationship issues, parenting problems, and career challenges. I have worked with victims of trauma and loss, as well as those struggling with impulsive behaviors, eating disorders, and problems managing anger.
My therapy style is empathetic, validating, and encouraging, with a healthy mixture of solution-oriented, motivational, and change-based approaches. Balancing both acceptance and change, I encourage others to identify their personal goals, and work together to build their most authentic life. I use a holistic and strengths-based approach and a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions tailored toward your unique strengths and needs. I have practiced a variety of treatment modalities, with my expertise being in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I also utilize solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques.
I utilize a mixture of theoretical approaches, with a foundation being in the holistic biopsychosocial approach. Integrating biological, psychological, and socio-cultural perspectives, I work toward determining and understanding behavior and cognitive processes as a result of a combination of biological processes, past experiences, and social-cultural norms. I focus on a variation of a strengths-based approach, mindfulness approach, and problem solving approach to develop insight, build skills and enhance mastery, and empower you to be most effective in solving problems and managing emotions. I believe in treating every individual with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and empowering against stigmatizing labels. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and joyful life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Jessica has helped me get threw a time when things were dark and she was able to help me threw it. I can tell she cares about her people. I am thankful for having Jessica as my therapist.
Jessica is wonderful. She gives great insight and has excellent book recommendations.
She makes me feel completely comfortable. I have no hesitation in opening up about my feelings, my past or what I am struggling with. She does a great job pulling out what I am trying to say even if I don’t say it the right way. She uses different tools to help me work through my issues and I am grateful for that.
She responds honestly and thoughtfully, a rare trait in a fake-o world
Jessica has been absolutely wonderful in helping to guide me through all of my struggles. She helps me take a step back and see things from different points of view. She’s very refreshing, and I’m very thankful for her.
Jessica is easy to talk to. I can message her on my own time and I can tell she reads into everything I say. I have time to think before responding, and can message her in the moment when I’m feeling anxiety. It’s much nicer than traditional therapy.
Jessica is so thorough in her responses to me. She is excellent at indicating that she has heard me, and responds with helpful resources to address my concerns. She is also extremely prompt and professional. I’m so grateful to have been connected with her!
Jessica is wonderful therapist! She is very knowledgeable in her field but she explains information in a way that is personal and easy digestible for you. I love the compassion that she has for me as a client, and for her work. Jessica is gem.
She's an incredible listener, and really takes in everything I throw her way, and then throws back so much insight that never would have occurred to me. I feel like I hit the jackpot on the first try! Also has a great sense of humor, and while she definitely addresses my main concerns in a professional manor, she never feels overly formal, which makes me feel super comfortable talking to her. feels very much like a wisdom filled buddy.
Jessica was wonderful the whole time that I work with her. She has great depth of knowledge in psychology as well as human behavior. in my time with her I learned quite a bit, as well as made progress on my personal issues.
Even if I fall through in the future, the information she has given me will allow me to much more easily pick myself back up and become the person I want to be.
Jessica is encouraging, supportive and knowledgeable. She knows how to apply her education and scenarios from her own life (when applicable) to relate to what I've encountered.
After two weeks of working with Jessica, I am impressed with her knowledge, her approach and her responsiveness. She has helped me to re-frame my goals in such a way as to reveal my hidden assumptions and craft new goals more aligned to my life's purpose. I feel that I will very quickly make significant progress with her help.
Jessica has been a GREAT help to me on my journey through my therapy experience! She always gives me as much information as she can find, and her area of expertise deals with exactly what my problems are. I appreciate all of her help and guidance!
This was my very first ever experience with online/digital counseling and therapy and Jessica was amazing. The whole experience has been great. During my first session with Jessica, I felt completely understood, NOT judged, and like she truly wanted to help me in my journey of self-improvement! She provided great resources after our session and has since checked in on me with a follow-up message.
Jessica is fantastic. She lets me talk and listens non-judgmentally before responding with something that resonates and is profound to my journey. She provides excellent resources and is adaptable to shifting priorities in our sessions. She has really helped me, and the resources she has recommended have been so relevant to my experiences. She is kind and considerate, and I would highly recommend her!
Jessica is very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and is able to meet you where you are at in your time of need. Not only is she able to find just the right way to deliver her messages, but she is able to relate them in such a way that they make sense to exactly what to what your current situation is. I highly recommend Jessica and BetterHelp.
Extremely kind and empathetic therapist. If it was within my power or control, I'd continue talking to her.
She listened and validated the problems in my life aren't my fault all the time. She allowed me to express my concerns and addressed them as best as she could being the first session. She allowed me to feel supported and cared about on a personal level yet a professional level at the same time.
Jessica has been a great listener and presents expertise in the field of social work. Super positive and friendly!
Jessica is great and adapts to each person, and whatever needs he or she is looking for.
Jessica has led me towards identifying and understanding the core of my issues and is not afraid to challenge ways of thinking that no longer serve me or are outdated. She is relatable, empathetic, and well-rounded.
Jessica seems to understand some of my thought processes before I've even figured them out myself! She is extremely supportive and understanding but also respects my thoughts and feelings, encouraging me to accept them but guiding me to process them in more constructive ways. I'm so pleased to have her as my counselor.
Jessica really helps me navigate my thought and feels while reminding me to be positive.
