First, welcome- I am so glad you are here!
Good listener, understanding, non- judgmental are all qualities I embody to ensure everyone I work with does not feel judged- but understood and heard and I know you will find that here. I strive to make things as comfortable as possible and to go at your pace- after all, this is all. for you.
I am a born and raised “ Yooper” here in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and other than a few years spent away for Graduate school I have lived in the U.P. Although I am not one for winter activities you can find me outside all the other 3 seasons of the years enjoying the beautiful area.
I earned my Bachelors in Social work from Northern Michigan University and my Masters in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. While in school I worked as a care aid serving adults who suffered with mental illness, a waitress and in customer services at retail stores. For my final internship in Graduate school I spent a year working as an intern in an Emergency Department in a low-income neighborhood that also served as the surrounding areas Trauma center. While there I primarily worked with individuals who struggled with mental illness, addiction, nursing home placements and often traumas (car accidents, gun and gang violence). For the past 9 + years I have worked as a Qualified Mental Health Professional working for the Department of Corrections- while most of my time is spent working with individuals who suffer from mental illness and adjustment issues/concerns a majority of my experience is facilitating groups for individuals who committed sexual offenses. I take great pride in being able to be objective even in the most heinous of times while building rapport with my clients while working towards a common goal- a better life.
My main background is working from the Cognitive Behavioral Model which works on changing the way ones thinks about a situation and in return changing the thoughts and feelings as well. I am a firm believer that thoughts lead to feelings lead to behavior and if as individuals we can change our initial thoughts, our feelings and behavior that follows will ultimately change as well- for the better that is.
If you are looking for help and want to find someone who will meet you where you are, make you feel comfortable- I am ready to work with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jessica Van Overloop. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Jessica is fantastic at making you feel comfortable and open to share without being judged. She provides appropriate feedback and asks spot on questions which shows she is listening to you and all that you're saying and what you're not. She helps you address things you weren't even aware of without being pushy and allows you to explore things in your time. My experience working with Jessica to date has been more than helpful and I am grateful beyond words!
Jessica has been an amazing. I am so glad I signed up for this program. It is the first time I have used something like this. I am so pleased with the personal progress I have made. It is great to have an unbiased opinion on things. I truly appreciate how supportive Jessica is, while also being blunt and to the point if something could be looked at or done better by me. It's been more helpful then I ever could've imagined.
Jessica is really understanding and supportive person. I feel safe and accepted while talking with her, and that means a lot for me. After every session I feel so much better and I’m really grateful for that
She’s amazing and attentive, very responsive despite our different time zones, definitely recommended.
Jessica is so empathetic, patient, responsive and so respectful. She has truly made me feel comfortable to be able to open up and share and be honest with my thoughts and feelings and gives me the space to express more. She will make an amazing therapist for anyone. I feel lucky to have been paired with Jess. Thank you so much, Jessica.
Jessica 'got me' from the outset regarding my issue and frankly she has helped me to date. She is there when and if I need her and I can't be more thankful.
Jessica is extremely easy to talk to - this has been a great experience and seems to be helping a lot.
Jessica is very respectful. Asks leading questions to help me reach my own conclusions and for me to help myself. Not judgemental and very easy to talk to.
She responds promptly and she provides me with useful advice. She is understanding and kind. I feel
comfortable talking to her.
Jessica is very helpful with what I’m going through. She’s very positive and understanding. I appreciate having her as a counselor.
Jessica really helps me open up and talk about my issues and makes me feel like someone is listening with care, even in so short a time...its amazing knowing someone is there
Jessica is a polite professional who will listen and help you to rationalize. Whilst offering practical changes to put in place to help you get to a more positive state of mind.
She's really polite and open minded. She never judges you for anything -you can tell her everything and she will give you the best answer you can ever get. Strongly recommend. Thank you for everything Ms. Overloop.
Jessica is empathetic and astute. She has a fine ability of using a simple, direct line of questioning to elicit information in more of a holistic approach; in addition, she allows for self-discovery and self-identification, which seems to make more of a sustainable impact on the therapy.
Jessica really helped me when I needed. She is very kind and a good listener. She helped me becoming aware of my feelings, how to think logical when the anxiety disturbs my normal living, to focus on myself and to re-frame my thinking more positively in each situation. I strongly recommend Jess as a counselor.
Jessica is very knowledgeable, empathic and kind. She’s quick to understand and is patient in exploring the conversation. Highly recommend her!
