About Me

Welcome and congratulations for having the courage to seek counseling!

My name is Jillian DeGroot and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University and am a current Doctoral student. I have over 5 years of experience as a full time School Social Work Supervisor. I am also an Adjunct Professor in BSW and MSW programs at a small Catholic university in New Jersey. I also operate a private practice a few nights of week. As a therapist, I help my clients break through the obstacles that hold them back in life. By asking the right questions and empowering them with the proper tools and techniques, I helps clients take action in pursuit of their goals and ambitions. My clinical practice and experiences have provided me the opportunity to help individuals and families overcome life's hardships. Working within relationship difficulties, life transitions, careers challenges, depression and anxiety, has helped in developing my treatment approach.

Helping clients shape their perspective into a healthy and productive one is important to the therapeutic process. Whether it’s your career, your relationships, or anything else that’s important to you, counseling will help you develop the habits and skills to effectively deal with the challenges and emotional moments you may encounter in life. Each of us is a complex being, formed by our life experiences and relationships. The inevitable frustrations, stresses and disappointments of life can leave us overwhelmed and confused. Through the creation of a safe and comfortable environment, you can find your purpose and improve mental well-being. In an effort to support, advocate, and instill courage, I take an authentic, empathic approach to therapy. The creation of a safe, comfortable space adds value to your treatment. A high standard for the protection of your privacy and upholding the limits of confidentiality can be anticipated.

You hold the power to your happiness. My goal with clients is to raise their awareness and mindfulness so that they can bring balance and enjoyment back into their lives. Life's too short to be unhappy or unfulfilled — so what’s holding you back? Take back your life and pursue your dreams!

Courage takes time - and the right therapist can get you there.

All the best,
Jillian DeGroot, LCSW

Jillian listens and tries to understand my concerns before addressing any issues. To me this shows that she really cares about me as an individual.

Jillian came into my life when I needed someone the most. She has been the most supportive and kindest person I’ve ever met, and I am forever grateful for the time she has spent with me so far. She is a fantastic listener.

i've been working with Jillian for a while now. I have trouble opening up and sharing, but she makes me comfortable and listens to what I have to say. Not something I see in all counselors. She's a good counselor and has helped me quite a bit in a short time.
