Johanna Anderson, LMFT
About me
I am Johanna Anderson, a licensed therapist in the State of Georgia. I obtained my bachelors degree from UNC-Greensboro in 2016 in Human Development and Family Studies. I then went on to get my Masters degree in 2019 in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lee University.
I having been doing therapy for about 5 years, including the time I was in school. During my time in school I had the privilege of working for our community clinic where I saw young children and teens, parents, families, couples and individuals. I also worked for the college counseling center where I saw student fresh out of high school battling challenges of being on their own for the first time as well as student getting ready to graduate from school. I am experienced in helping clients work through issues such as anxiety, depression, low esteem/worth, family conflict, parenting issues, relational issues, attachment issues, trauma, and grief.
I know that reaching out for help can be terrifying, whether this is your first experience with therapy or your 50th, I understand the challenges and fears. I wish to breakdown the stereotypes of therapy and embrace the hard work it takes to make change.
I am passionate about meeting people right where they are to and walk alongside them in their journey to find peace and healing. I am big on collaboration and want you to feel like you are in control of this process.
Therapy can often feel lopsided, as though you are sharing the deepest parts of yourself with a stranger (and lets be honest it is like that) but I believe progress is made when there is a healthy therapeutic relationship built. I am open with my clients while also keeping and maintaining appropriate boundaries and focusing on the therapy goals.
I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you.
YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!
