My name is Johanna, I am a clinical social worker licensed in the states of Maryland and Virginia. I received my master’s degree in Social work from the University of Southern California in 2015. I have provided treatment in a variety of settings such as outpatient, community, online and crisis intervention centers. I specialize working with children, adolescents and adults who are having difficulties due to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other mood disorders. I have also worked with people diagnosed with PTSD, as well as different types of psychotic and personality disorders. I have helped people who experienced trauma, low-esteem, identity questioning, adjustment difficulties, life changing events and grief. I have provided crisis intervention for people in crisis and high risk situations as well as support for families of people with mental illnesses.

I work closely with individuals to create a strong therapeutic relationship, one in which they can feel safe and supported. I use cognitive and integrative approaches to create awareness and meet the individuals where they are. I use different interventions and work from a person centered approach. I believe that you are the only expert in your own life and with the appropriate tools will take the leading role. Through supportive, collaborative and interactive sessions I can help you gain greater insight, change your perspective, adopt new behaviors and connect with others. J. Sanchez does an incredible job teaching how to manage emotions. I was unsure about therapy, afraid to ask for help, not sure if I could even benefit, but it's been worth it thanks to her expertise. Absolutely recommend.
