John Andrews, BACP
About me
As a counsellor, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you are invited to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Rooted in humanistic principles, my work is grounded in the belief that each person has an innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding when provided with the right conditions—empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
Alongside this, I draw from psychodynamic traditions, which means we may explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns influence your current emotional life. Through compassionate exploration, we work together to bring greater awareness to what may be hidden beneath the surface, enabling deeper insight and lasting change.
I value the therapeutic relationship as a central part of the healing process—an evolving space where trust and safety allow you to encounter yourself more fully. Whether you’re facing anxiety, loss, relationship challenges, or a sense of being stuck or overwhelmed, I will walk alongside you with curiosity, respect, and care.
Together, we aim not only to reduce distress but also to foster a richer understanding of who you are—so that you can live more freely, more fully, and more in tune with your authentic self.

It's always great speaking to John, life always seems a little lighter and more manageable after a chat (and occasionally a cry). He gives great advice and creates a safe space to delve into my issues.

John is a very lovely person: he listens to my problems without giving any judgment even when that would seem appropriate. Instead he patiently leads me to find my own answers even tho that may be painful and hard to do.
