About me

The son of a military officer, John has spent a considerable portion of his life living abroad, acquiring Spanish as a second language in the process. He also has a keen interest in multiculturalism and history, earning his first master’s degree in history from Texas Christian University, where he completed thesis work in Native American studies. He has occasionally conducted history classes at Tarrant County College, and has also facilitated online classes in history, counseling, teacher education, and bilingual educational programming with the University of Phoenix Online.
John completed his counselor education with the University of North Texas, earning a master’s degree that included practicum work with Spanish – speaking clients at Family Service’s Northside clinic. He broke into the field of counseling as a school counselor, but has also earned his licensure as a professional counselor (LPC). He has LPC experience with a wide diversity of clients, including depression, anxiety, marriage counseling, divorce complications, grief, personality disorder, and substance abuse. He is a fully trained Becoming A Love And Logic Parent Facilitator, with extensive experience in conducting parenting classes.
