About me
It is often said that life is a journey in which you experience"ups and downs". Unfortunately for many who experience a down time, there are difficulties overcoming barriers when trying to go back "up" again. I want to meet you where you are when you are overwhelmed by those barriers. I want to walk with you and work with you toward an improved quality of life while helping you arm yourself with the necessary tools to navigate through any future barriers.
My name is Johnathan Lein. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - LMSW-C) originally from Michigan with over 25 years of experience in psychotherapy. I graduated with my BA in Sociology/Social Work in 1983 and earned my MSW in Social Work in 2001. After working under clinical supervision I became fully licensed in 2006. I have spent my career working in three areas: Medical Social Work, Educational Social Work and Psychotherapy/Counseling. I have worked with young people, adults, geriatric adults, and individuals in the LBGTQ community. I have also been a school administrator in both the public and private sectors in two states.
Some, but not all the areas I have experience in are anxiety, life changes, self-esteem issues, depression, grief, young adults on the autism spectrum, intimacy & sexual issues, sexual abuse survivors, trauma, career transition issues, learning disabilities and family issues.
When meeting with a client, I use a Person Centered Approach. I want to guide you as you travel the journey toward a better place in life while utilizing my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I want to get to know you well, so that together we can approach your barriers and navigate toward a positive outcome. I always consider it a privilege to work with each individual who entrusts me as their therapist.

Johnathan has truly taken the time to get to know me and what is important to me in my therapy journey. He is kind, respectful, and offers so much wisdom. I look forward to my sessions each week and his calming presence makes me very comfortable to open up about topics that can be difficult.

Very knowledgeable and easy to tell how experienced he is after only several sessions.
Will give you information but makes it sound like it's coming from an old friend, not a professor.

Johnathan was friendly, open, professional, and listened to my needs. He offered several options for communication (video, voice, text) and was timely in replying to any questions or messages. Would recommend him to a friend or loved one. He respected and adapted to my communication style, and he also opened up about his life and experience.
