It is often said that life is a journey in which you experience"ups and downs". Unfortunately for many who experience a down time, there are difficulties overcoming barriers when trying to go back "up" again. I want to meet you where you are when you are overwhelmed by those barriers. I want to walk with you and work with you toward an improved quality of life while helping you arm yourself with the necessary tools to navigate through any future barriers.
My name is Johnathan Lein. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - LMSW-C) originally from Michigan with over 25 years of experience in psychotherapy. I graduated with my BA in Sociology/Social Work in 1983 and earned my MSW in Social Work in 2001. After working under clinical supervision I became fully licensed in 2006. I have spent my career working in three areas: Medical Social Work, Educational Social Work and Psychotherapy/Counseling. I have worked with young people, adults, geriatric adults, and individuals in the LBGTQ community. I have also been a school administrator in both the public and private sectors in two states.
Some, but not all the areas I have experience in are anxiety, life changes, self-esteem issues, depression, grief, young adults on the autism spectrum, intimacy & sexual issues, sexual abuse survivors, trauma, career transition issues, learning disabilities and family issues.
When meeting with a client, I use a Person Centered Approach. I want to guide you as you travel the journey toward a better place in life while utilizing my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I want to get to know you well, so that together we can approach your barriers and navigate toward a positive outcome. I always consider it a privilege to work with each individual who entrusts me as their therapist.

Jonathan is a great listener and very supportive. Talking things through with him has helped me a great deal. Little did I know a year ago how glad I would be to have a counselor in my life.
Johnathan was friendly, open, professional, and listened to my needs. He offered several options for communication (video, voice, text) and was timely in replying to any questions or messages. Would recommend him to a friend or loved one. He respected and adapted to my communication style, and he also opened up about his life and experience.
Johnathan is very knowledgeable, compassionate and caring to me as an individual.
Johnathan has been extremely helpful in my progress through my mental hurdles in everyday life. He has been incredibly nice and sympathetic with my feelings and I've come a long way since I've started working with him.
Johnathan is an amazing counselor he has helped me to understand myself a little more and been very supportive of things I have done as well as the factor that he takes the time to try to listen and understand what issues you may be having.
Johnathan continues to give me amazing support and common sense, simplistic solutions/advice that I would never have thought of. In only a few weeks my life has seemed to continue to improve with his care and guidance.
Johnathan has been a Godsend for me during a rather challenging time in my life. I am very grateful for his compassionate listening, his attention to the details that I share with him, and his patience in unpacking some things with me and helping me to gain focus, healthy perspective, and then to act accordingly as I move forward.
Wonderfully supportive and patient!!
Jon has been present, attentive and thoughtful. He’s insightful and has offered me practical ways to deal with the challenges I’m facing - highly recommend
Professional, compassionate and interactive .
Upon my initial joining of BetterHelp, I was enduring not only the stresses of being a graduate student but the overwhelming nature of bereavement. Of course, that got pushed aside as Covid-19 became the focus. Jonathan has provided complete care and comfort throughout the entire therapeutic process and is dedicated to truly hearing the needs of his clients. I do believe it was more than intuition that Johnathan was chosen to counsel me.
Johnathan has been great! Fantastic advice in our conversations, helpful activities. I'm very grateful for Johnathan and better help for matching him with me!
Jonathan was great to work with. We did not do too many sessions but the ones we did were beneficial. Thanks Jonathan!
Jonathan is a very conscientious listener and it is very clear he is an expert. There is no doubt in my mind I am receiving state of the art care when I talk to him. Would very much recommend.
So far good.
Johnathan is a counselor that has real life experience to draw from. Not just a group of token phrases.
Johnathan comes to me at a very perfect level of understanding and connects his own life experiences to my own. He adds the perfect amount of spiritual advice in our sessions. I appreciate all the knowledge and care he has shared with me!
