I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of experience in child welfare and mental health. I have had the pleasure to work with many wonderful people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, post partum depression, PTSD, OCD, parenting concerns, conflict due to divorce and relationship issues.
My counseling style would be considered non judgmental and direct. I believe that everyone deserves respect and dignity and has the power to "take captive" any thoughts or issues that hinders them from living their life to the fullest. I am a mental health professional who believes that I don't have the power "to fix anyone." Everyone has the key to their own healing but sometimes needs a neutral person to create the space that allows the key to unlock the answer.
My approach combines psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused counseling. I don't use a cookie cutter treatment plan and am always striving to create a space that "meets you where you are."
Life is full of choices. To not make a choice is still making a choice. I hope that you would be willing to make the choice to allow me to support and empower you during your journey.

Joy is remarkable! Highly recommended, has helped me tremendously and helped me break down ME! Without any judgement or side eye judgement, as a person in the field it was important to have a therapist that talked to me and not at me, one that didn’t just cross their legs and use a soft voice etc Joy is amazing!!!!
Joy Dozier has been amazing! She has helped me identify past trauma, and works with me teaching me tools to deal with my current triggers and issues. I really appreciate her candor and understanding. I would (and do) recommend her to anyone that asks. Little by little I am becoming a better person, mentally and emotionally, and she has helped me. I am beyond grateful.
Joy is great! She is really able to address my concerns and help me to think deeper about challenges I face. She helps me with how I respond to different situations.
I love working with Joy, i feel heard and I am given a tips that I can implement right away. Every session has been helpful and I have overcome a lot of things internal barriers because of it.
5/5 stars. I have been going to counselling on and off all my life. In recent years a lot of counsellors have wants to focus on the problem or life event and break that down. But Joy goes deeper, she doesn’t make it about the events in my life, she makes it about how I perceive those events and how I handle them, and why I view them this way to begin with. I feel like since starting with Joy 2 months ago, I notice a big improvement and that it feels like an investment in my health and well being. I really like Joy and appreciate all the help she’s been able to give me.
I love Joy! I can’t wait to walk through my road to myself again with her!
