I am a marriage & family therapist licensed in California with over 25 years of experience working primarily with adult men and women of various cultures. I have worked with clients that have experienced a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, and trauma. (including multi-generational trauma).
My style is warm and collaborative and I utilize humor when it is appropriate to do so. I integrate the body, mind & soul when looking at mental health challenges and I believe you have the best answers to the questions you bring to therapy. My approach combines solution-focused, dialectical behavioral, narrative, and experiential therapies. The design and implementation of your treatment plan is a collaborative effort that is individualized per your needs and goals.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step I will hold space for you and accompany you on your journey.

Joy is no-nonsense, empathic, helpful, and skilled. She seems to be very tuned in to what people need. She makes helpful suggestions, is patient, and is available when I reach out. I would recommend her wholeheartedly.
Joy didn't waste any time and cut right to the heart of the matter. I've never had a therapist listen so acutely and quickly, and that allowed us to dive deep on our very first call. Not only was I impressed, but our conversation also brought me a new perspective I hadn't previously considered about myself. It was a very thought-provoking discussion that is still producing fruit. I wholeheartedly recommend her, thank you Joy!
