About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have worked with clients for over ten years with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, career challenges and HIV/AIDS. I have also worked as a case manager assisting clients in referring to other agencies if I am unable to assist. I try to stay abreast of agencies that can help my client get their needs met, for example, assisting with applying for social security to referrals to medical providers as needed. I believe in a wholistic approach.

My therapy style is compassionate, but direct and honest.. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy and reality therapy. I treat each person as an individual with individual needs.

She really LISTENED and heard me out. I am so thankful to have her ear and guidance along the way!

Joy is very patient, kind and direct. She validated me and provided a safe place for me to explore my feelings. She also provided insight into my situation which was based on my own words on which she meticulously took notes. I hope to continue working with her to meet me goals. Thank you, Joy!

We’ve only had a couple of meetings thus far, but so far she’s been great. She not only really listens, tries to put herself in a perspective to really understand what I’m going through and how it’s making me feel. Very judgment free environment so I’m comfortable really opening up to her and that is SO refreshing.

Work with me!
