About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider specification in the state of Tennessee. I have been working for 13 years in the mental health field. I have experience working in an inpatient psychiatrist hospital facilitating groups, family sessions and individual sessions and I worked for 10 years on a Mobile Crisis Response team. Due to the type of jobs I have held, I have experience working with people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as, all sexual orientations and I have extensive experience working with people in a crisis situation including being suicidal, homicidal and psychotic. I also have experience working with numerous different diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, bipolar and personality disorders.

I have an eclectic style when it comes to counseling. I definitely am person centered but I also tend to be very direct and straightforward when it comes to working with clients. I do use a strength-based approach with my clients, as I often find that in times of crisis and high stress clients can lose sight of their strengths and the coping skills they already possess. I also tend to be very future oriented. I try not to delve into the past unless the past is interfering with the present. I would much rather see where you are currently and help you advance forward then dig around in the past.

Julia has been a great help in not being too pushy but always being available. The site is perfect for someone such as myself who remains too busy with everyday life to actually get out and who fears the public at times. This has been a great outlet that I would recommend to others!
