I am an Individual, Couple and Family Counselor licensed in the State of Indiana. My undergraduate degree is in Marriage and Family Relations. My Master's Degree is in Counseling Psychology, and my doctoral work is also in Counseling Psychology. I have been a professional counselor for 33 years. I have served numerous clients, with a variety of life issues during this time, including anxiety, depression, relationship/intimacy, parenting concerns, self-esteem, motivation, and domestic violence, as well as many others.
My primary counseling style is very relational and respectful. I believe that all persons deserve kindness, sensitivity and understanding. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive and psychoeducational styles. While I would never impose my values or beliefs on anyone, I am a Christian who is comfortable providing biblically-based counseling. I tailor this to each client's request and theology. I have served numerous clients who are of other faiths over the years. Applying biblical principals is as individual as any other aspect of the assistance I provide to each unique client.
I love helping others experience growth and health, in themselves and in their relationships. Seeking assistance in this process can be a bit intimidating, and I applaud you for taking this step. I very much look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way I am able.

I have been very satisfied with Julie Dodson as a counselor. We've only talked twice, so I can't provide a ton of feedback, but I really feel she's a good fit for what I'm trying to do.

I've had a number of counselors over the years. Julie is the best! She is completely on point and has been a rock. For me, her style has enabled me to move forward and make wise choices that have had an immediate impact in my life. Unlike other counselors that want to do a deep dive into your childhood and past, Julie has gotten to know me and my current situation and provided me with wise counsel that I've been able to use since session #1. So happy to have found her. I'm using the video portion of Betterhelp.com and it couldn't be easier or more convenient! I love it! I feel like I am right there with her!

Julie Dodson saved my marriage!!!! When we started counseling our marriage was just about over, I had moved out a few months earlier and decided to give it one more chance. We decided to give "Better help" a try instead of going to our church counselor or a local therapist. At first it seemed a little strange not being able to talk face to face and even the web hosted "skype" feature was different but I'm so glad we continued through it because Julie made all the difference for us. Some of our sessions were joint and some were individual but in either forum we were taught how to effectively communicate and respect one another as well as how to focus on what we could do personally instead of being overly concerned about our spouse. After months of counseling our relationship is much better, it is not to the point that we no longer need weekly sessions and we owe that to God who directed us to Julie who helped us tremendously. THANK YOU SO MUCH JULIE!!!! You're the best....
