Julie Lynn Stanton

About Me

I am an individual and group therapist with 30 years of experience working with diverse clients over a wide socioeconomic spectrum. The range of client concerns addressed have included: self-esteem and competence challenges, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress sequelae, emotional flooding and interpersonal effectiveness problems, relationship problems, including job-related communications problems, lack of meaning, living with chronic pain and physical illness, challenges in mid-life and aging, and co-occurring disorders such as depression/anxiety/substance abuse.

My basic philosophy is that we all have a deep well of wisdom within us to help us move through life’s problems and reach a place of competence and meaning. But often, a combination of skills deficits, negative patterns of thinking, inability to self-soothe and feelings of helplessness, along with lack of access to information or resources, blocks our ability to drink from the well. My job as a counselor or therapist is to invite my client into a working partnership in which my client feels safe in self-disclosure as we discern the issues my client wants to address and search for solutions and healing. This partnership is a sacred trust. I welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Finally, beginning June 7th, 2021 I will have 30 contact hours per week open for clients to schedule appointments. Hope to see you soon!

I've met with Julie (Lynn) about 3-4 times and so far so good. She "gets it", listens carefully and thinks before she responds. Her practices and counseling techniques are what I feel I need to help myself and get my issues under control. She always lets me know that if I think or feel we need to go in another direction, she will help find that direction. I chose her because I wanted someone with life experience who has dealt with people like me often. So far I'm happy to say I've made the right choice!

Lynn is a wonderful counselor; she really spends time getting to know the issues and then helping me work through them. I appreciate her knowledge and approachability.
