About me

My name is Kanisha Harrison, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in South Carolina and North Carolina. I graduated with my Masters of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Sociology concentration in Criminology from Winthrop University. I have worked with clients who have battled depression, anxiety, caregiver fatigue, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and addiction. Seeking counseling, allows for individuals to express themselves and be vulnerable which one may not be able to outside of counseling sessions. Counseling help identify tools to be able to manage and take control over ones emotions.

My approach that I utilized is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strength Base Approach during sessions. I approach each client with the upmost respect throughout each counseling sessions. In order to gain respect, respect has to be given. I believe counseling is a partnership between client and therapist. During each session, we will work together as a team to process your thoughts, emotions, and reactions, develop short term and long term goals that you want to achieve, and to be able to break down the barriers you may face that cause uncomfortable thoughts, uncomfortable situations, and wanting to escape the problems without fixing it.

Problems are not solved in a day but acknowledging that there is a problem is a step in the right direction. Be proud of the first step you made by researching therapists that can assist you during your time of need. I look forward to working with you in exploring your emotions and learning ways to manage your day to day life. I hope you have a great and blessed day!

Kanisha is wonderful! Very strengths based and positive. She has helped me focus on moving forward and learning to live with my grief rather than trying to bury it.
